I borrowed an inappropriate book for Lil Shauna. It says "Bedtime Monster". I briefly glance through and thought that it is one that assures kids that there are no monster but I am so wrong.
The story is about a little boy who refused to sleep despite being really tired. Bcos he was cranky, he threw a tantrum when his parents asked him to go to bed. The author describes the boy as a 'monster' bcos he was being really difficult. The author even shows how the boy "evolved" into a monster. He grew claws and a monster tail. He eventually turned back into a boy when he calmed down and drifted off to dreamland. The story ended with the daddy relating that he was once a monster too when he was young and showed a picture of the daddy with a tail. Lil Shauna freaked out.
She couldn't understand why gorgor turned into a monster. She cannot come to term that uncle has a tail. She's into fairy tales now and is scared of witches and monsters. The concept of gorgor turning into a monster and uncle having a monster tail was overbearing for her. She grew unusually quiet and we couldn't continue with the other stories bcos she couldn't concentrate. She kept asking me at the start of every storybook if it contains any monster.
She was very cooperative when we told her it was bedtime. I think she's worried that she will turn into a monster if she refused to sleep or throw tantrum like gorgor. Lol.
This morning, she woke up at 7ish and came out of the room crying. She told Popo that she was scared. -.o" The monster has a really big effect on her. I must be really careful with the selection of books next time. Silly mummy.

USS Part 2
After dinner, we decided to bring Lil Isaac into USS. I felt pretty bad to leave him in the room while we had fun with jiejie. However, the attempt flopped. Lil Isaac got to ride the merry-go-round with Daddy Lim while I enjoy my ride with jiejie.
Daddy Lim says that he was unusually quiet before the ride started and didn't look too happy. He started crying when the ride started, probably overwhelmed by the sounds and lighting and only hushed at the end of the ride. When we exited the ride, the characters from Madagascar were out for photo taking. Daddy Lim and Lil Shauna were excited and queued up for their turns. I helped them with the photo taking and Lil Isaac started crying again when we got too near to the penguins for his comfort. The penguins scared him??!!! They were so cute. We had to send him out with Nainai, predicting that continuing the tour will bring him more fear and torture than pain.
It was already 7.30pm when we continued our fun with Lil Shauna. The park was deserted and we needed not queue for any of the rides. Heng we didn't spend money on express passes. I was determined to try the more thrilling rides that we did not attempt the last time. I was a little apprehensive at first. We attempted the 4D Shiek show and Lil Shauna loves it!
I got more daring and invited her to the roller coaster ride, which she gamely accepted. Daddy Lim didn't even board the ride with us. After the ride, Lil Shauna claimed that she want afraid, but I think I saw her shut her eyes tightly when the roller coaster took off. Lol. I wanted to try the canopy flyer and had a hard time persuading Daddy Lim that it is not too dangerous. Daddy Lim took the 1st ride with us. Lil Shauna and I went 3 rounds. We also rode the explorer car and went on the flying Dinos 2x. If it is not bcos Lil Shauna didn't meet the height requirement, I would have made her go on that rapid water ride thingy. The next time we go back, I must make sure that she's at least 107cm. Hoho.
Oh, we also took picture with Puss in the Boots. No queue at all! Happy us.

We left the park at almost 9pm. I was reluctant to leave. I had too much fun! Lil Isaac was already asleep by the time we were back. Double guilty. To ease my guilt, we brought them swimming again the next morning before we checked out of the hotel. The kids just love swimming.

We checked out at noon. We contemplated touring Sentosa but were put off by the hardworking Mr Sun. It will be hard on Lil Isaac when we already feel like melting under the heat. We left for home but I think we will come back for the attractions when Lil Isaac is older. I am happy. Hohoho.

Maid Woes Again
I am pissed, very much so by Popo. She's getting on my nerves again, this time over the maid. I am worried that I will explode soon and she will again misunderstood that I side the maid over her. I do not side the maid. I merely take a logical view of things and she's normally the illogical one.
Maybe the maid really did play punk with her but played goody two shoes in front of me. But if I don't see great fault in her and so I don't see why I should lash out at her. Come on lah, she's a working adult lor, save her some dignity and pride. In my opinion, she's not that bad and Popo agrees on that too when she's logical.
But in her crazy moments, which took place frequently now, she nags and complains about the maid. She nit picks at the maid and nags about EVERY SINGLE THING that she thinks the maid didn't do well, which amounts to a lot given her high almighty standard.
I don't know what is she trying to achieve. Like us, she grew reliance on the maid and agrees that we can't do without one now. She don't think that we should change MA now. She says that she simply can't stand MA acting all defiant in her presence. She wanted me to lecture MA, which I did, openly in front of her to show her that I DO NOT SIDE the maid. But she is still not happy. Seriously, she has equal rights to lecture her and I don't see why she cannot directly lecture and correct the maid but has to wait until the end of the day. It loses the effect. Is it bcos she wants to let the maid know that she's the mother and the maid can't win? Arrrggghhhh....
For the past days, I dread seeing her bcos she will have something to nag and complain about the maid. Bcos of her unhappiness towards the maid, she took it out on me. She speaks sarcastically and unkindly, provoking me, exactly like the last time. Do i deserve that? I see it coming. Endure, endure. And she has to compare my maid with my brother's maid, singing the praises of that maid and telling me how my maid pale in comparison. Their maid is forever good, even the last 2 who got changed. -.o" Just this evening, she has to tell me that their maid is not given free calls home. The irksome thing is that she doesn't put it across as a matter of fact but seems to be mocking me for mishandling my maid. There is no perfect way lor, I just chose to be a little more humane at the expense of a little cost to somebody who had to travel far away from her family to earn a little money for her family's future. I also believe that a happy maid makes life easier for all of us too. And she has to relate the same matter to MA in her broken English in a sarcastic tone. In my opinion, she's simply unhappy with the maid now and nothing the maid does or about the maid please her. NOTHING!
How? She's beyond reason most of the times. If I tried, she will jump at the conclusion that I side the maid and she ends up thinking that she does not even measure up to the maid in my eyes. Not that I never try before, I usually end up pissed. The last time, she did exactly the same thing, gave me attitude no end until the meltdown and I had to clean up the sh*t after that. I dread another nuclear explosion. Too damaging to the environment.
Maybe we should really look at changing this maid. See, i do not side the maid and have no qualms about changing a maid to appease her Highness. Afterall, it is probably too difficult for MA to change the way that she reacts to Ah Mah and i wont be surprise if she doesn't know what ah mah wants. Is that the way out for this? Maid's pay has increased alot. -.o" Ah mah will also resign to fate if the next one comes worse? Pray...

Crawl
Lil Isaac suddenly started crawling. It is interesting how he just got it. Nobody needs to teach him. And he realized that his new ability gets him places! So he had been crawling and crawling. Still slow but at least moving. Most importantly, he seems to know how to hold up his head even when his hands give way. Yeah!
Soon, he will gain speed and he will be everywhere. I was just telling SY just now that Lil Isaac is not crawling. Hohoho.

Universal Studio Singapore
It was a really, really fun trip. Nainai mentioned that she hasnt been to Sentosa for the longest time. So we thought that it would be nice to bring her there. We booked a nice room in Festive Hotel and intended to bring Lil Shauna to USS too. The last time that we were there, Lil Isaac was still in my tummy and I had to miss most of the rides. Lil Shauna was 2+ YO and she could only take limited rides. It is so different this time.
We checked in the hotel early afternoon. Lil Isaac rest with Popo and Auntie MA in the room while Nainai and us made our way to USS. It was hot but we were too excited to be hampered by the heat. The moment we entered USS, we saw Kongfu Panda and Lil Shauna was happy to take a pix with him.
Then, we went on a boat ride with the Madagasga's characters. It was a good choice to visit USS on a weekday, there wasnt much crowd and thus no need to queue for long for the rides. I was initially contemplating paying more for express pass. Luckily I didnt. One express pass cost $30 more!
Then, it was the merry-go-round. We went 2 rounds. :)
Then we caught a performance. Lil Shauna enjoyed it so much. But there was too much crowd and we didnt get to take picture with the characters.
After watching the dance, we went for more kids friendly rides such as the flying dino. We also caught the Waterworld show. We spent about 2 hours in the park and found it too exhausting under the hot sun. Even the energetic Lil Shauna was lethargic and was agreeable when we suggested to go back to the hotel for a short rest and a swim.
We left USS and Lil Shauna saw Mr Chocolate Man and had a picture with him.
We went back to the hotel and brought Lil Isaac for a swim. The kids enjoyed themselves so much. After the swim, we went for dinner and then prepared for Round 2.
To be continued...

Ouch!
Lil Isaac is 9 months old today! So what can he do? He can barely crawl on his fours but can move very well via commando style crawl and combining slithering. He can sit pretty well and can easily pull himself to a sitting position. He loves to stand. Although unsteady, he attempts to pull himself to a standing position over and over again. When he is in the cot, he entertains himself by standing up, falling down and standing up again.
Lil Isaac has started solids and is still on full bm. He loves solids and eats greedily. However, he doesn't fancy bottled purée but welcome fresh fruits anytime. I latch him for the last feed before bed and also during the night feeds. He is beginning to decrease his milk intake and often goes on milk strike when we are outside. And I have covered how bad he is as a sleeper and nap-per in one of my previous posts. He is always so full of energy.
His eczema seems to be improving. It still threatens to flare when the weather is too hot or if the environment is too dirty but at least the sore, red angry patches are less obvious.
I pray that God will give him good health and makes him grow big and strong. Pray that God will make him a happy baby, give him lots of laugher, just like his name. He is still very much a Mr Grumpy now. We love you, Lil Isaac. Muaks.

Holiday @ Sentosa
It was really good. I haven't felt this way with any of our holidays since Lil Isaac came. I really enjoy myself and so did Lil Shauna. Maybe it was bcos Lil Isaac spent most of the time in the hotel room while we had fun with jiejie. Poor Lil Isaac. I did feel guilty for leaving him out of the fun but he really needs to grow up quickly.
We went Universal Studio and Lil Shauna enjoyed herself so much. She couldn't stop talking about it after that.
I am having blues about going back to work tomorrow. I think I need longer holidays. And we must bring the kids to Disneyland next year when Lil Isaac knows how to enjoy. More about our USS adventure in my next post.

Acoustic Neuroma
I am now at NUH with my mum, waiting for her to do the MRI scan. The EnT specialist asked her to do a MRI to rule out acoustic neuroma. From what I search from the Internet, this is an tumor within the head but outside of the brain that grow on the nerve for balance. This nerve connects the ear to the brain. It is rarely cancerous.
There are general three treatment options. For small tumors (<1cm in size) and if hearing is still intact, then monitoring may be recommended. If the tumor increases in size and significant hearing loss occurs, then treatment is recommended.
For bigger tumors, surgery and tumor excision are recommended. Microsurgery may be recommended for large tumors (>3.5cm) in selected patients who have symptoms from the mass effect of the tumor.
Radiosurgery is another option. This is a lower risk than surgery as there is no open wound, no GA. I supposed this is some kind of radiography.
Combined Microsurgery and Radiosurgery (CMR) is also an option and can work well with large acoustics neuromas.
My mum started to panic a few days ago. When the specialist first introduce the idea of a tumor, she was in denial and acting cool, telling us that she's not afraid of death. A few nights ago, she started losing sleep and was asking us what to do if there's really a tumor. Haiz, I don't know too.
The results will be out in about 2 weeks' time. In all medical cases, no news often means good news. I am praying that there will be no call from the hospital until her schedule appointment. Prayers please!

Maid
MA joined us in September last year. She has been with us for almost 10 months. She's our 3rd maid. Although she's not the perfect maid, we are very much ok with her. At least she's cheerful and obedient.
Just like how we are not 100% employees, we recognize that MA is not and will not be a 100% maid. She's 70% in terms of housework, 80% when it comes to taking care of the kids and probably about 65% for initiatives taking. Like many other maid's employers, we close one eye and sometimes 2 and get by. They are afterall the additional pair of hands when we need help and the extras made a lot of difference in war time. We should consider ourselves lucky to not get one of those maids who prostitute themselves or give boyfriend problem or are simply siao. I read about too many horror maid stories already.
However, Popo is dissatisfied. She has the idea that we pay alot for the maid, which is probably quite true if we consider the food and lodging and the levy. We spent about $1.2k on the maid every month. For that, Popo expects MA to give her 101% and all. Of course MA doesn't and Popo gets upset. The situation gets worse when MA started to chu pattern as she gets more experience. Faint.
Popo has been complaining about MA recently, about how she talks back, shows black face, trying to siam, etc. Popo nags big time at me whenever MA upsets her. Her nagging irks me. And she has to sing praises of my SIL's maid everytime. Well, in my opinion, that is bcos she doesn't stay with them mah. Popo is definitely not the easiest person to live with.
Other than the 856 rules that she sets, her broken English often makes it sound like she's barking at MA... Or maybe she really intended to. The most difficult thing is her inconsistency. For e.g. she instructed MA to only mop the floor in the morning after we have left for work. Popo woke up one Sunday to find the floor not mop. That was bcos Daddy Lim goes to work later on Sunday. Popo then insisted that MA should be more initiative taking and recognize that Daddy Lim goes to work later on Sunday and take the initiative to mop before Daddy Lim leaves for work. On other times that MA does take initiatives and do things not according to her instructions, she gets upset and call MA kpo. Faint liao. As employees, we are most worried about not being to read our bosses and this is a typical example.
A few days ago, I just reminded MA not to argue with Popo. She teared. Aiyo... I know she's not at fault at times but I have learnt my lesson not to appear to side the maid. She is afterall just here to work and will be gone in a few years' time. There is no point hurting my relationship with my mum over a maid. But I am worried that MA cannot take it and quits on us soon. I am looking forward to the day that I will be maidless, this people management at home is getting too tiring. However, we all know that we can't go maidless now. Popo openly admits that she can't man 2 kids on her own now. She was so stress when my SIL went maidless a while ago. One day, just one day...

School and Church
School started for almost 2 weeks and things are going well. For the time being until my SIL completes her confinement, Popo will be bringing the kids and MA to Centris every morning and we will fetch them in the evening. Lil Shauna will thus board the school bus with Felicia at Centris and alighted at Centris. This arrangement works really fine. Lil Shauna will don her uniform and tie her hair just like the 2 Fs, no tears at all. She enjoys taking the school bus with Felicia too. The bus auntie sometimes relates that they quarrel in the bus but they also appear to enjoy each other’s companionship too. Lil Shauna does not seem to have any other issues with school now. She enjoys school and sometimes relates to us the things that she does in school, the songs she learn and even the prayers that they do. J The change of classmates seems to have no impact on her at all. Phew… At least we don’t have to run around looking for new school or managed a crying Lil Shauna.
Then again, I cannot help worrying that Lil Shauna will start rejecting school again when they stopped their daily shuffle to Centris. Well, Lil Shauna will still see Felicia on the school bus and in school. Then, my SIL told me last week that she has tried to apply Felicia to the Kindergarten that Fione is studying now. It is a well-known Kindergarten in Jurong West, very popular and it is more academically driven than New Life. They do not have a vacancy now but will inform my SIL if there are drop-outs. My heart further drops but I will be happy for Felicia if she does get into that school. It is really more reputable I also tried my luck and called up that Kindergarten. I was told by the administrator that the registration is already closed and the waiting list is very loooonnnnggg. Ok, I get her hint. I can only hope that Lil Shauna learns how to be independent soon or get used to going to school, such that when Felicia does go to her new school, Lil Shauna will continue to enjoy going to New Life. *crossing my fingers and toes*
We have started picking up going to church again since Lil Shauna stops her My Little Gym classes on Sunday afternoon. Amazingly, Lil Shauna likes church and I enjoy the time that I spent with her alone. During the last few visits, she was participative in the worship and activities. Now that she is 3 YO, almost all enrichment classes are independent classes. I realized that I actually missed those times that I spent with her in the various enrichment classes that we have attended. Boohoo, my baby has grown up. Come next year, she will move to the next level of Sunday school classes where parental companion is not allowed. Another challenge. We just have to take things as they come and pray more. I have been praying so little recently. Haiz. Jia you.

Sleep
Lil Isaac is a poor sleeper and nap-per. I read on baby centre that babies between 6 to 9 months should be sleeping between 11.5 hours to 15 hours a day including the naps but Lil Isaac is barely meeting the quota. He is such a bad sleeper and nap-per compared to jiejie.
Jiejie started sleeping through in her 6th month. And she took solid 2 to 3 naps at 8th months, easily each of 1 to 2 hours each. It was much easier with her. In fact, jiejie only stop taking nap recently. We started allowing her to skip her nap a few months back during weekends. And she had too much fun in Centris during the June holidays and was well trained. Now that she's in the afternoon class, she skips her nap on most days. But she will turn in at 9ish and sleep until about 7ish, which makes up about 11 hours.
Lil Isaac goes to sleep at about 9pm. He still wakes up once a night to latch, 2x on bad nights. During the day, he naps badly too. He takes 2 to 3 naps but each nap can be as short as 15 mins. On good days, we get nap lasting an hour. Phew. Must be his tiger instinct, such that the slightest noise wakes him up. Arrggghhhh.
We went to nainai's place 2 Sundays ago and Lil Isaac's eczema threatens to flare. Not that nainai's place is exceptionally dirty, but compared to the constant cleaning at our home, Lil Isaac is pampered. Since then, he has woke up 2x every night!!!!! Last night, after waking up 2x, he woke up at 5.15am to play with me. By the tine he is satisfied and willing to go back to sleep, it was already 6am, time for me to prepare for work.
I am a panda. Yawn.
I don't know what happened. I don't know why Lil Isaac decides to torture me. Growth spurt? But he doesn't wake up bcos he is hungry. He sometimes doesn't latch much and drift back to lala land. -.o" boys are generally poor sleeper and nap-per?

Wild, Wild Wet
We brought Lil Shauna to Wild, Wild Wet (WWW) 2 Saturdays back. It had probably been a year since the first and last time we were there. I remembered I was with a big tummy then.
I brought Lil Shauna to WWW with ah yee, my brother and the 2 Fs as Daddy Lim had to work and could only join us later. The last time to WWW, Lil Shauna was clingy and needed Daddy Lim to accompany her on every slide. This time, she was so much braver. After a few attempts, she insisted that she slides on her own. On an occasion, she even insisted that she climbed to the slide on her own and that I had to wait and catch her at the bottom of the slide. While she climbed, she constantly looked back to ensure that I wasn't following her. I swear she was the only 3 yo climbing the slide on her own. My eyes didn't left her and I freaked out when she didn't come down the slide. I held my breath until when I finally see her at the bottom of the slide. Luckily, she only insisted to do so once. My weak heart cannot take it lah.
The kids had so much fun at the slides, they kept going up and down, no signs of boredom. There is this big bucket that spills water at regular intervals and the kids enjoyed getting 'drenched' too. The last time, they were so scared of the big splashes.

We all had a good time, the adults too.

Lil Isaac didn't get to join in the fun. Daddy Lim was supposed to bring him to the pool when he came to join us but the baby was having his nap. Well, there will be chance. By then, Lil Shauna should be independent enuff to go up and down the slide herself. Hoho.

I Can Read
I was gan cheong about looking for another phonics school when I failed Zoophonics. There are quite a few big names in the market. The last time I checked LCentral, they only accept students who are 3.5 years old. I remember checking I Can Read (ICR) too and they were off my radar bcos of their location and they are really expensive.
Recently, I also check with Morris Allen at JP and it is really expensive, almost $50 for a weekend session. I don't know what prompted me but I found myself surfing ICR website and saw that they have a branch at JE! That means that I can bring Lil Shauna to the class via MRT conveniently when Daddy Lim is not free. I called to check and found them much cheaper than Morris, at $30+ per lesson. But what attracted me most wasn't the cost or the location but the assuring administrator.
She sounded really nice and was patient in explaining how their program works and the progression. She was sympathetic towards parents whose kids are clingy (read: me) and explain how and why it is a no parental companion class but assured that herself and another administrator will help the teacher when there are crying kids. There will only be 6 kids to 1 teacher. After I explained what happened at Zoophonics, the administrator did not slam them either. She was simply reassuring and asked us to start Lil Shauna later, when she's ready. Ahhhhh... Again I don't know if the program is good but I am much lured by the services of the administrator.
I will probably send Lil Shauna to ICR after she got over her Zoophonics trauma. I expected her to cry buckets when I send her to ICR but I guessed we have to start somewhere and we will get one day? Hehe.

On Leave
I am on leave today to babysit the kids so that my bro can accompany my mum for her medical appointment. So, how did I spend the day?
Popo woke me up at 7.30am as we had to leave early for Centris. She needed to settle the kids before she leave for her medical. We tabao bfast and reached Centris at about 8.30am. I fed Lil Shauna her breakfast and had mine and latched Lil Isaac and tucked him for a nap. Then I entertained the kids until it was time to get them ready for school.
The kids left for school at 10.45am and it was peaceful. MA looked after Lil Isaac while I rushed my quarterly board paper. When it was all done, I had lunch and latched Lil Isaac again and he had his 2nd nap. I was really tired and took a really nice nap. I didnt even nap on a bed, I simply flopped on the floor and drifted to lala land for a good 1+ hour nap. Well, now that jiejie is skipping her nap on weekends, there is no opportunity for me to have one. I really needed this nap. I felt so recharged after the nap.
When I finally woke up, I went to get a cup of Ice cafe Mocha from Starbucks and tabao the hao da da ji pa and 2 slices of strawberry cakes for the kids. Yummy, how good can life be. The Ice cafe Mocha was heavenly.
Then it was a mad rush to help bath and feed hungry kids who just returned from school, more TV watching, latching and playing games. Then we brought the kids to JP for dinner and some shopping at Kiddy Palace and headed home. We spent some time with the kids and they were both in dreamland by 9.45pm. So, Daddy Lim and I sneaked out of the house and are now happily sipping cafe Mocha at Mac Donalds. Hohohoho.
I think I am really cut out to be a HBD tai tai with a maid. Lol.

Popo's Update
My bro accompanied Popo to NUH for her appointment with the ENT specialist. I think she was put through some hearing test and was diagnosed with severe hearing loss for her right ear but her left ear appears normal. Well, the hearing loss could very well be due to old age but the specialist also mentioned that there is a slight possibility of a tumor growth sitting on some nerve thereby affecting her hearing and at times causing her dizziness. The specialist recommended a MRI scan to eliminate the possibility. If it is merely hearing loss or imbalance ear fluid, the he will prescribe medicine for the condition. Prolong hearing loss in one ear can also cause dizziness. He was not willing to prescribe the medicine now without the MRI. I think his immediate concern is to quickly rule out the tumor growth possibility.
The possibility of a tumor is freaking Popo out. That is especially the case when she has lost quite a fair bit of weight recently. You know how cancer patients often lost weight and are rag and bone. She's in escapism mode and suggests not going for the scan. She tells me that she's not scare of death but is unwilling to go for treatment if she's really diagnosed with cancer. That is bcos my dad suffered from the cancer treatment and he relapsed a few years later. Popo thinks that the treatment will not cure her anyway if she is indeed cancer stricken. Moreover, her kids are already grown up and are independent and she thus has no more worries. -.o"
I don't know what to say but simply told her not to worry too much. I told her that it is probably nothing much and just take things as they come. I had to remind her that she's not that young and it is normal for her to start feeling pain and sickness. But truth be told, I am actually worried after hearing all her grumbling. Pls pray that there is no cancer but a mere case of hearing loss.

Popo
It has been almost 9 months since Popo comes and stays with us. Our humble 5-room flat now house 7 heads. Popo has mentioned that she wouldn’t mind continuing with this living arrangement. I guess it largely voice down to the fact that I am working and spend little time at home thus minimizing conflicts. I have also resigned to fate and allowed her to run my household in whichever way that she likes. Many times, I chose to close both eyes and hold my tongue to prevent quarrels. Otherwise, things go well and I am “most of the time” grateful for her watchful eyes and helpful hands.
Popo turned vegetarian when my Dad left 6 years ago and has been pretty healthy until recent years. I supposed that is part and parcel of growing old. Popo had her gall removed years ago. I was in JC then and the doctor mentioned that the removed gall will not have great impact on her overall well-being. A few years back, during a full body checkup that ah yee and I dragged her to, the doctor found unusually high blood platelet count, which signifies a faulty bone marrow. She goes for regular checkup at NUH now but is not on any medication until such a time that the platelet count further leaps. The doctor said that the condition is not life threatening but is not going to get better either. Then knee pain grasps her. We suspected that the ligament or gel is wearing thin. But the pain interestingly “runs” from her knee cap to her shin to her heel and toes. As most older generation, she went to TCM and was asked to restraint the types of food that she eats. Well, it did help to ease the pain a little.
Coupled with the pains, she started getting dizzy spells, followed by vomiting, which she accrues to indigestion due to the removal of her gall many years back. She found that certain food will trigger the dizzy spells and she further reduces her food choices. She thinks that it is the right way to go since restricting the food choices has helped her to manage her pains without medication. -________-“ Then, she started losing weight drastically. We tried asking her to see the doctor but she simply refuses, insisting to self medicate or limit her food choice until one fine day she was hit with a really bad dizzy spell when she was outside. Daddy Lim and ah yee had to go find her and drive her to the doctor. The doctor suspected imbalance fluid in her ears lor, nothing to do with indigestion and suggested for her to go to the hospital to check it out. The episode also stressed her up, leaving her frightful to venture out on her own.
After much prompting, Popo finally went to the Polyclinic with ah yee and got herself an appointment with NUH next Tuesday. I do hope that the dizziness condition is really triggered by the imbalance fluid in her ears and she can get it treated. That way, at least she can start enjoying food.
Recently, she has been shuttling between ours and my brother’s home to help out and she’s obviously strained. She puts unnecessary baggage on herself and works round the clock. With the stress she’s unhappy, skips her meal, gets disturbed sleep and started nagging and getting upset with the maid for being able to take things so easily while she works like a mull. Hello, she’s the maid lor, working harder won’t bring her anywhere and nobody asks you to work doubly hard. That is the thing with Popo, she stubbornly insists things to be done in a certain way and overly stress herself and she complains no end, putting everybody in a miserable spot. Then she refuses to take in options to change things. Then how? Haiz.
The only good thing is that she is aware that she’s losing weight and probably mal-nutritious and is trying hard to eat more to gain weight. She tries not to skip her meal and I also asked my SIL to make sure that Popo is eating more and also healthily. Haiz, life is indeed in a cycle. I bet she used to take care of us this way when we were young. Now, it is our turn to do so. I hope our kids are just as filial towards us in the future.
Ah yee may have intention to shift out at the end of the year. Well, she’s not that young anymore. When that happens, I hope to do up the room, get a proper bed and shift Popo over. I supposed we can do up the children’s room too and get a nice princess-cy bed for Lil Shauna and lure her out of our room. Hohoho.

Shorts
Jiejie looks so good in shorts but she only wants to wear her skirt now and it must be pink skirt.

She was willing to wear her shorts yday bcos we were bringing her to the playground and she must be in her shorts before we were willing to do so.
Haiz, when will she grow out of "I must be in pink from head to toe" thing?

Looks Like Pappy
School Reopens
p.s - A post that I have drafted 1 week back bit not posted bcos the computer was down.
School reopens today. The 3 girls gave their caregivers nightmare for the past month. With school, they at least have a few hours of peace during weekdays, until the next school holiday comes along.
Lil Shauna was rejecting school before the school holidays. The last few days were horrible. Her reasons switched from disliking her school uniform, to pa pa the school bus driver, to pa pa Mrs Teo, who I supposed is a little stern. Then, she has to cry buckets and Popo had to alternate between coaxing and forcing. Plain bad.
We are worried that she will continue to reject school this term. I have switched her to the afternoon class, hoping that going to school with Felicia will help. We had been trying to prepare her for school, reminding her that school reopens today and she get to go to school with Felicia. We also made Felicia agreed to taking care of Lil Shauna, which Felicia readily agreed. Still, I can't help worrying, especially when she has to make friends all over again.
To prepare for the worse, I had explored EccoKids and Ichiban, which are walking distance away. I was also tempted to switch Lil Shauna to a more academically driven pre-school even if Lil Shauna can adapt to the afternoon session. However, after praying about it, I decided to keep her with the church school if she can adapt. I heard God saying that moral education is more important than academic now.
I was anxious the whole morning, as if I was the one who was supposed to start school. I called my mum a few times to check. Just before school, my mum called to say that the girls were getting ready for school and Lil Shauna was excited. She even happily donned her uniform! When it was time to board the bus, she happily did and wave goodbye to my mum. No signs of school refusal at all.
My SIL went to the school to peep at the girls. She shared that Lil Shauna was happily chatting with Felicia. At certain point, there was a crying kid and she spoke to the kid, as if trying to comfort her. :)
Lil Shauna came home with a file containing all her work from the 1st semester.

The file was very nicely organized, with pictures of her, her English teacher's assessment, her Chinese teacher's assessment and some of the nicer craft work that she has done.

The teachers generally have nice things to say about her.

I was actually a little upset for missing the last teacher-parent meet-up bcos of the cruise. Now seeing the file, I felt comforted that the school at least tried to inform the parents of what had happened in school.
I hope her good feeling about school will continue for the many more months and years to come. Amen.

Amen.
