Shopping though therapeutic, is very addictive and very definitely expensive. With Christmas coming, I have started my presents shopping. Christmas is a big thing! Shopping for Christmas gifts must be spread out to eliminate last minute shopping stress and helps limit the hole in the pocket from getting too big.
I have long discovered the good of online shopping. I love to receive mail parcels and remember the joy of opening those parcels. However, I haven’t been very adventurous and had stuck to my good old bulk purchases and sprees in Singapore Motherhood forum. I am no expert in online shopping and thus have high risk when it comes to online shopping. I sometimes ended up with purchases that didn't look as good as they appeared to be on the computer, wrong sizing or simply clothes that didn't look good on me. The latter happens about 25% of the time. Nevertheless, the lure of online shopping is too great to resist - looking at all the beautiful stuff on the computer screen, buying at the clicks of my fingers, cashless payment that fools the brain into thinking that not much had been spent. Aha!
Along the years, online shopping took a new height with Groupon, Taobao and what not. I find it a hassle to work out the shipping and never venture there. Recently, I had been introduced to Qoo10 Singapore and my eyes sparkled at the range of merchandise (which is almost everything) available. I had my 1st taste of Qoo10 and was surprised at how convenient and easy to buy and received the loots. Kekeke.
I foresee myself doing quite some online shopping in the future. The ability to shop even when I don't have the spare time to step out of the house (without the kids) to do so. I love it. Daddy Lim, aren’t you glad that I have high level of self control? Don't worry, I would try not to spend too much $$ on online shopping. Muahahahaha.

Postponing Skating Classes
Lil Shauna will have to miss the last of her 5 lessons of ice skating class bcos we would be in Taiwan then. Just last week, I realized that she has Graduation concert this Saturday and we have to miss another class. Silly mummy.
I tried to call up The Rink to ask for a replacement class on Sunday and was turned down. The admin said that both days are full and they cannot take on more; they have to observe the instructor to student ratio. I was told that there was no way out and I was frustrated but I guessed safety comes first. That also basically means that we paid full course fees for 3 lessons and whatever tiny hope that I have for Lil Shauna to pass Core 3 disappeared into thin air. Zzzz.
Then I asked if they would allow us to withdraw for this period and bring the remaining to another term instead. I thought it was a long shot but the answer was… “yes”. Errrr… why didn't the admin suggest then? Win already. Heng I couldn’t bear to waste my $$ and had thick-skinnedly pushed for solutions.
So, Lil Shauna will stop her Core 3 for now and she will continue with 2 weekday classes, right before we fly to Taiwan. Mummy will have to take leave to go ice skating with her. In the event that she doesn't clear her Core 3, we will repeat starting from the Saturday right after we come back from Taiwan – perfect timing. Lil Shauna didn't welcome the idea, insisting that she’s too shy and didn't want to make new friends. Duh, as if has made any friends in her current class. We will have to bring her for a practice before she re-start her Core 3 though.
On a separate note, she has been asking for Heely shoes for a long time and Christmas is coming. I wonder.. These shoes are so expensive, even much more expensive than my shoes. Zzzzzz…

Organiser 2015
I have this habit of using an organiser since university days. I kept all my used organisers. Most of them are cute and pocket size and I carried them almost everywhere. Years have gone and technology advances but I still kept to my good old organiser.

Turned 4
It is definitely not easy for Lil Isaac to be turning 4. The very 1st role that he has to fit in is to be independent in Sunday school. Lol. He is very, very, very sticky during Sunday school and still cries when he doesn't see mummy or Popo despite attending Sunday school for more than 2 years. In addition, we have been very regular at church this year but that didn't seem to help. Even the Sunday school teachers are amazed at how clingy he is. Lil Shauna was so much more independent at 4YO. Faint.
So I made a deal with him. He has to start attending Sunday school alone after he turns 4. Two Sundays back, he insisted that he was still a few days shy of turning 4 and so I stayed with him in class. But after worship, he agreed to sit on the red mat meant for the kids and away from mummy, which was a good start already. It was a choice between mummy sitting away from him or mummy out of the room. Usually, he would insist that I sit right behind him and after awhile, he would be lying, sitting, squirming around on my lap until I passed him on to Popo. He isn’t that sticky to Popo. He just needed Popo to be in the room with him.
Yday, he remembered our deal and understood that he had to sit on the red mat, away from mummy. He initiated that right from the start of the class and there I was, standing some distant away, looking at my little boy worshipping God with the rest of the kids. My heart melted. He turned and looked back quite a number of times to make sure that I was still there.
He obediently sat where he was supposed to during bible story time. The picture below gives a better indication of the distant between us. He was distracted at times and ran back to me to check that I am still around and whispered I-actually-cant-hear-what several times. Lol. Then Popo came and he told me that I can now leave bcos Popo had arrived. Win already. I think I can start leaving him alone in class after a few more Sunday.
In the afternoon, we headed to the My Little Gym (MLG) at Marina Square. Lil Isaac joined their program a couple of terms at different age. For some strange reasons, he actually asked to join again out of the blue some weeks back. The last we stopped, he was 3 years old and started the independent class. It was so tough trying to make him go for the class without mummy then. Lil Shauna didn't last so long, she didn't progress beyond the parent-child classes. Seeing that it was something that the little boy wanted, we signed him up. The classes are really expensive and we have decided to put ice skating classes on hold for this for the time being.
Lil Isaac was very excited to go for the gym class. He fitted in instantly as he was already familiar with the setting. I was standing outside the class and he gave me big smiles and waves at times. Awwwww… He looked like he really enjoyed himself running, jumping, rolling, climbing and all the boys’ stuff-ing.
While observing, I realized that Lil Isaac hasn't learnt to wait. He was always snatching and me-first. He also didn't have the habits to ask nicely. I liked how the teachers reminded him constantly not to snatch and made him wait and ask nicely. I must be more conscious to grow the good habits. Overall, Lil Isaac had fun and he asked to go for the lesson again and so we signed him up for 3 more lessons to the end of the term. Then we will see how things go. My pocket just said ‘ouch”.

Core 3 Lesson 2
The lesson today was pretty bad. Maybe Lil Shauna still didn't understand what she was supposed to do or maybe the bad flu left her too tired to concentrate and practice hard after the lesson. I think we will have to repeat core 3 if she continues this way for the remaining 2 lessons.
They continued to practise the one foot glide, alternate foot, clockwise and anti-clockwise. During class, she seemed to forgot all the hard work that we did to practice the week before. Zzzz... I didn't worry too much about the one foot glide given that she could balance somewhat the last practice. I guessed I just have to remind her on what she was supposed to do and practice with her.
Then, they learnt this "moving 2 foot turn forward to backward while skating on a curve" stunt. It was sort of like a little twist combined with a little hop and after that twist, you glide backwards. It looked tough while they were practicing and I was busy filming the instructors, hoping that Lil Shauna could watch and learn after her lesson. Lil Shauna just couldn't seem to get that right and was whining badly when I made her practice again and again after lesson. In the end, I gave up and ended the practice session.
I think it is already great that Lil Shauna had progressed so far so quickly and that she is still interested. I must remember to not be a tiger mummy and chased away her interest. Happy Bday Round 3
Lil Isaac officially turned 4 yday. I have been advocating that 4 is the age to turn independent - in Sunday School without Mummy and to school next year without jiejie. This better works bcos he will have to go to school alone next year.
In church last Sunday, he refused for me to leave him alone in Sunday School, arguing that he hadnt crossed his bday yet. But he agreed for me to sit away from him and him with the other kids. That is a good start already.
There was no mega celebration yday but we bought him an ice cream cake.
He was a happy boy. I also found this charming picture of him in Daddy Lim's phone.
Yeah! Happy bday Zaky boy! 4 years old already. Muaks!

Taking it Slow
Strikes while the iron is hot and that was what we did.
Armed with our floor plan, we headed to IMM after work last Monday and spoke to 3 different IDs. We don't have a specific ID in mind and enquired after feeling Ok with the display of the shop and the pictures of their completed projects. 1st impression does count.
It helps that Daddy Lim and I briefly discussed on what we don't want in the house, which is almost everything! We only have little idea of what we want and will have to rely on the ID, which is the main reason why we are likely to pay a premium and opt for an ID over a contractor. Of the 3 IDs, one of them gave us a nice feeling. She had done similar units previously and was suggesting ideas while going through the floor plan with us. Thinking that we should source for more quotations and ideas, we headed down to Tradehub 21 last Thursday and met up with 3 more IDs. Two of them told us to expect the quotation this Wednesday while the last one basically told us indirectly that he has many booking on hand and will come back to us… one day.
We met up with the initial 3 IDs last Friday and the quotations are in the $40 to $50k range, which is also what we roughly had in mind given that we have so many things to hack and rebuilt. The IDs gave some ideas of how to move and build certain part of the house. We had to disregard what one of the IDs proposed. I was totally unimpressed with him and didn't spend more than 5 mins trying to understand what he was trying to share – rude but we are talking about quite some $$ here.
As the standard market practice, we were only allowed to bring the quotations home but quickly and briefly replicated what we were told after we left IMM. We like some of the ideas by each of the 2 IDs and seem like it could make sense if we do mix and match for the living room. However, what they proposed for the MBR didn't quite impress us. I am looking forward to what the other 2 IDs could advise come Wednesday.
The initial thought was to kick start this whole renovation business asap and maybe even getting the renovation done by the end of the year. Then, the earlier accommodation option wasn't feasible and we now had to look at alternative accommodation. We could either shift to my MIL’s place but have to shuffle long distance with the kids everyday, look for short term rental (apartment/ service apartment) or cheap hotels that are in the west. The hotel option would actually work out to be cheaper than renting an apartment but we would have a logistics issue given the limited space.
With the change in circumstances, we have decided that we would take things slow. Since we didn't have much idea of what we wanted, we will now take the time to do more research and proceed with the renovation when we are more ready. Equipped with the IDs’ ideas, Daddy Lim and I actually managed to discuss and Daddy Lim even came up with some interesting ideas for the MBR. At the rate that we are generating ideas, I wouldn't be surprised that we could end up engaging a contractor instead and save some $$.
The next step would be to hear what the other 2 IDs have to propose. We will meet up with the 2 IDs who had proposed too and let them know what could change and see if they could come up with better ideas. We could even bounce off our ideas with them and see how feasible they are. Kekeke.

Happy Bday Round 2
We had a bday party at Happy Willow on Saturday, the same venue that we had Lil Shauna’s 4 YO birthday. The last minute effort to make something happened didn't ended up too badly. Lol. Lil Isaac had been so looking forward to his bday party and I am so glad that we did something for him.
While Lil Shauna was having her lessons, we went to buy last minute goody bag gift. Popo helped to buy some extra finger food too, which eventually proved to be a good move bcos we had so many hungry adults while the kids amazingly didn't feel the need to eat anything at all.
Daddy Lim fetched us from JE after he had collected the cake from JP and we arrived at HW at about 4.30pm. The room was nicely set up for us and the sushi that we ordered was already received. At times like that, I couldn't be more glad to spend $$ to save headaches. The guests started arriving and the kids ran around playing while the adults lounged around and busied ourselves catching up and stuffing food into our faces. We ordered pizzas for the adults given that it was dinner time and we could see all the adults arriving looking hungry and passing the “feed me” vibes. Lol. So we ended with happy kids and adults too. Hehe.
The kids played games. We could already see that the older ones starting to shy away from such baby games. Needless to say, Lil Isaac always ended up as the winner and that made him a happy boy.
Then it was candle blowing time and he was happy to be the center of the attention.

This will probably be the last time that we hold a bday party in HW. There were almost no other patrons in HW but the structure in HW is more for the younger crowd. Our growing kids ended up more with ball throwing (at each other), piling (again on each other), rough and rowdy play instead. There were so many crying incidents – Lil Shauna cried so pitifully 2x and took a long time before she calmed down and joined the rest. Luckily nobody was seriously hurt. The kids definitely need bigger moving space now.
Lil Isaac lugged home so many big presents and was happily ripping off the gift wrapping the moment we reached home. The boy who usually avoided the camera was so happy that he willingly posed (and very nicely) for me. Thank you to all the uncles and aunties, boys and girls.
We had to ration the toys though. Popo said that Lil Isaac would lose interest in the each of the new toys if he is allowed to open all the new toys at the same time. This, I couldn't agree more. Moreover, we tried rationing with Lil Shauna and she was surprised every now and then when we bring out a new piece. Lil Isaac got to choose a toy to open on Saturday and he didnt choose what Daddy Lim or I had bought for him. Chey. The next time he can open another present will be on Friday. By then, I am pretty sure he would have forgotten about it. Lol. For now, the storeroom, where we kept all the toys, is out of bounds. *evil grin*
On Sunday morning, the kids were still overly excited form the party. Lil Shauna asked to open her “bday” surprise too. Isn’t it amazing how sibling gets to benefit too? Daddy Lim bought her one of the ponies and I bought her poppin cooking.
We “baked” a birthday cake from pre-mix power and water. I was total impressed at how the cake really tasted like cake. The kids happily decorated the cake with icing and soon, they were no more.

Core 3 Lesson 1
We signed Lil Shauna up for core 3 Saturday classes. There will be 5 lessons and we would be missing the last lesson, which is the test as we would be in Taiwan then. The admin advised us to still sign up as lesson 4 is the mock test and the instructor would be able to make an assessment then - if Lil Shauna is good enuff to proceed.
Her first class took place last Saturday. I dragged myself out of the bed having just went to bed at 3ish the night before. Then it was the usual hush hush and tip toe out of the house to avoid the little boy. Lil Shauna even needed to bring her shoes out of the house and wear them on the stairs way.
We had the usual Mac bfast before heading to the Rink. The speed skaters were practising then and I wonder if our Lil Isaac may like to do that one day. Anyway, lesson soon started and Lil Shauna was ready as ever.
They spent quite some time practising what they had learnt in core 2. The main thing that they learnt last Saturday was to do an one foot glide around a circle. Like what her previous teacher mentioned, core 3 and 4 would involve a lot of skating and gliding on one foot. Lil Shauna didn't seem to do well during lesson. I had to be a distant learning student, observing what they learnt, so that we can practise after the class. I even took videos to show her what she could improve.
While Lil Shauna was taking her class, I saw that they opened a new toddler class, I.e. for kids below 6 and they were so cute.
I checked and saw that it would take 2 levels of mini blades to proceed to core 2.
After class, Lil Shauna said that she didn't quite understand what she was supposed to do and therefore followed the group blindly. So I had to try my best to coach her based on what I observed and also search on YouTube. Lil Shauna practiced hard. I was actually very impressed with the effort that she put in. It was a good session. I am looking forward to the next lesson. Hehe.

Her first class took place last Saturday. I dragged myself out of the bed having just went to bed at 3ish the night before. Then it was the usual hush hush and tip toe out of the house to avoid the little boy. Lil Shauna even needed to bring her shoes out of the house and wear them on the stairs way.
We had the usual Mac bfast before heading to the Rink. The speed skaters were practising then and I wonder if our Lil Isaac may like to do that one day. Anyway, lesson soon started and Lil Shauna was ready as ever.
They spent quite some time practising what they had learnt in core 2. The main thing that they learnt last Saturday was to do an one foot glide around a circle. Like what her previous teacher mentioned, core 3 and 4 would involve a lot of skating and gliding on one foot. Lil Shauna didn't seem to do well during lesson. I had to be a distant learning student, observing what they learnt, so that we can practise after the class. I even took videos to show her what she could improve.

Friday Night
It has been a few months since the last party session and my bones started to itch. In times like that, it makes perfect sense to satisfy the cravings than suffer. So, a party date was quickly set up and it was suggested that we would head down to Butter Factory given that it would be ceasing operations by end of this year.
I have never been to BF. I only heard that it is a club frequent by youngsters and that does not resonate well with me. Clubbing with young people makes me very and constantly conscious of how old I am. This must be retribution - when I was much younger and clubbing, I used to sneer at aunties who club. Oops.
Auntie SL and Auntie S convinced me that the crowd is a mixture of old and young. They had been there a few times and Auntie SL wanted to visit BF one last time before it closes.
We met up at 10.40pm as the club only officially opens at 11pm. Auntie SL said that the crowd only come at about 1am and that is when the club is the hottest. Errrrr... Why do clubs open so late now? Are young people supposed to catch a nap before they club? Auntie S even reminded me of the times that we used to club, about how we entered clubs at 8pm so that we could get free entry and enjoy happy hours one for one offer and how the club would close by 3am. We would usually leave at 1am or 2 am. In today's context, the crowd could have just arrived when it was supposed to be the time to head home.
We were the 1st few to enter BF at 11pm. We probably looked very auntie. Lol. The club was empty and it took like forever for the club to fill up. We spent the next hour people watching. It is probably true that there was mixed crowd but the youngsters dominate the club. To both our left and right were groups of young looking people, probably in their early 20s. One of them were guys dressed in long white sleeves and black pants - these cadets from OCS were probably given a long weekend. You get my drift.
I also had an interesting observation. The matured people tend to occupy the dance floor in the beginning of the night while the youngsters were at the seating area away from the dance floor. We saw a few matured aunties happily dancing on the little platform at he center of the dance floor before the actual action. I cannot help but wonder if they knew how people were looking at them. I have to admire their courage and reminded Auntie S to never let me do those in the future. Lol.
As the night progressed, the young crowd seemed to suddenly grow and the dance floor was super crowded with young people. There were so many sweet young things. The configuration of the club resulted in the constant exodus of people from one side of the club and back. Crowded dance floor + exodus was simply horrible.
We did a little platform dancing but stuck to the dance floor most of the time. We left the club at 2.30am, given that we all had to wake up early this morning. I barely had more than 2 glasses of bourbon coke. I needed to be fully functional the following day and had a long day.
Overall, the experience wasn't too bad but it wasnt fantastic either. I would still prefer to visit a club with lesser young people bcos I want go be one of the young people. Hehe.

Ridiculous Essence
I went for my hair pampering session on Tuesday afternoon. It had been 3 months since my last hair color and treatment and I was seriously spouting while hair. I am no stranger to white hair. They started appearing since my teenager years and I had been dyeing my hair every few months, depending on my tolerance level.
The reason that I had signed up a package with HO was bcos I was after their so-call herbal dye, which I supposed is less harmful to the scalp. Unfortunately, HO was more intent on giving their customers lucrative (and expensive) treatment packages. I ended up buying their treatment and coloring package, which would cost me the same if I had walked into a salon. Moreover, HO gives good hair wash and head message. Ooooo... The only down side is that on every appointment, I would have to endure the consultant’s rant about how bad my dandruff problem is, how this area and that is growing lesser hair bcos of dandruff, etc. Seriously, my dandruff grew up with me and it hardly bothers me now. I mostly try to pretend to listen and put on my most sincere smile.
Tuesday was no different. I can almost repeat what the consultant was about to tell me. Right after the colouring was done, I was asked to go to the usual consultant room and hear the same story. This time, the consultant went on to identify 2 red spots on the scalp and started telling me that my scalp is starting to show signs of distress and I should start treatment to prevent balding issues, blah.. blah.. blah. I already knew what was coming. She suggested an intense course of treatments, like once every 2 weeks, which is impossible. I don't see myself having such a major hair issue to go for such intense treatments and I seriously cannot afford to sit in the salon 1.5 hours every 2 weeks.
So, she went on to persuade me to DIY at home with their hair essence. This will be sprayed on the scalp after shampoo, coupled with a simple head DIY massage. I am no fan of such DIY routine, especially when I do not (stress again) see the need to. She then went on to estimate that I would need 50 mini bottles of essence, which will be converted to about 2 to 3 big bottles, to be sprayed 2x per week and the DIY treatment will last about 6 months. She went on and on and kept repeating the same thing about my dandruff, weakening immune system, yada, yada, despite my obvious reluctance. I was running late and asked if she could continue with her “sales pitch” while I get my hair treatment. I got my request and was then brought back to the room.
She continued with her chant and as per all such conversation flows, I had to ask her about the price despite not at all interested, so that we could get through the essential points and end the conversation. She said that each bottle would cost $200. I told her no, since 3 bottles would cost me $600. That was when she corrected me that $200 is the price of EACH MINI BOTTLE of essence. Yes, you heard me correctly. And yes, she told me that I needed 50 bloody bottles. And yes again, you did your maths right, that means TEN freaking THOUSANDS dollars of DIY products. Did you also see my face turn green?
I told her that it was ridiculous and there is no way I would spend $10,000 on my hair when I do not see any major problem. She continued trying to persuade me and even told me that they have a student rate and she can try to put me on the student rate, which will give me about 30% savings and it would cost me about $5 to $6k instead. Number 1, if there is still a good deal, then why didn't the consultant come clean in the 1st place? Number 2, she has to go back to school to learn her maths bcos a 30% savings will not reduce $10k to $6k. Nevertheless, that doesn't change the fact that I am NOT INTERESTED. I almost walked out of the consultant room but she stopped me and asked me to wait a little while. I did, as I still had my hair wrapped in a towel.
After like 5 mins, she came into the room with her senior branch manager and explained to the manager that I was concerned about the price and asked if I could qualify for the student pricing. That was the last straw. I told the manager that I do not need the discount bcos I wasn't keen to buy anything. Just let me finished my treatment and leave. I do not need any more sales tactic. I was pissed and was becoming rude but I think they had crossed the line and were being disrespectful.
I got back to the seat and was out of the salon in under 15 mins.
This had been the worse visit so far. Maybe it is their tactic to start jumping on their clients on their 4th visit. Maybe their sales had gone down and they needed to boost sales. For the next visit, maybe I should keep away my smile, put on a polka face and answer “no” to everything that the consultant sells. Ouch!

Happy Birthday Round 1
Mummy took leave to babysit the kids while Popo went for her medical this morning. Then, to celebrate Lil Isaac's bday in school in the afternoon. It was a mad rush trying to feed the kids, make ice cream cupcake with the kids (after popo left the house so that she doesn't get a heart attack at the mess), dress them and pack them off to the school bus. The kids went onto the school bus happily. Lil Isaac was excited to see mummy in school after collecting his cake.
After the kids got on the school bus, I dashed off to JP to have a quick haircut at one of those QB-alike salon. I was feeling pretty embarrassed, hoping not to bump into any friends/ colleagues. I think I am one of the few women who don't care so much about their hair and go to such quick hair fixed. Lol.
After the hair cut was a quick grab for a new shirt for Lil Isaac. I realised that he has nothing fancy to wear for his bday. He chose to wear a batman t-shirt and board shorts to school today and looked more like he was going to the supermarket than his party celebration. Lol. Boys are pathetic. There are so many fanciful stuff for girls but boys' attires are so limited. Thankfully, I managed to grab something decent.
Then it was cake collection and heading to the interchange for the feeder bus to the school. I was lugging the goody bags, the paper plates and what nots, the cake and the new buys... I was definitely 110% auntie looking. Bleh...
I was too early and ended up chatting with their Principal, Mrs Chong. She commented that Lil Isaac is so much better now, at least he has stopped his crying. Mrs Chong also shared that Lil Isaac especially behaved himself when Mrs Chong is around. Haha. Don't play, play, Principal leh.
The celebration went well. Lil Shauna joined us.
Lil Isaac had a Thunder Cat cake. Before he blew the candles, he was asked to close his eyes and make a wish. But I think he was too eager to proceed and started peeking after seconds. Look at his cheeky look.
After the candles, without being told, he immediately cut the cake.
He was moving around, climbing chairs and basically very monkeyish in class. Ms Chia, his form teacher said that it was his us all behavior. Faint. I was actually worried and asked if she thinks that he is hyper-active and was glad when she said that she didn't think so. But gosh, he was so noisy in class! I cannot help but wonder how many complaints I will receive from his future teachers. Boo.
Lil Isaac was ok for me to leave after the celebration, promising to see him in the night. Phew, round 1 done. I think we should have about 3 rounds this year.

All Bcos of a Broken Tap
The darn kitchen sink tap broke again. This is like the 258x??!! This is the top failing appliance in our house and didnt we just bought this tap a few months back? We must have gotten a lemon. Boo.
Getting a new tap isn't difficult; it is the installation that is a hassle. Zzzzz. The handyman that we usually hire told us that he is too busy this period to take the job. We went to IMM to buy a $60ish tap and in addition, paid another $60 for installation. The labour cost is almost the price of the tap but this is already considered a good deal. The last time, in a different kitchenware shop, I was quoted $90 for labour, which is more expensive that the tap that we bought. What? Do I look like a carrot head?
The installation will take place on today. At least we don't have to survive any much longer on the failed tap. And while choosing the tap in the crowded shop, it reminded me of the time where Daddy Lim and I were newlywed, looking for taps and toilet racks to fit into our tiny budget amidst a sea of shinny ware. I like new things. Hahaha. I also saw young couples doing what we did years ago, spending thousands of dollars in one seating.
Our home is almost 8 years old and had seen us through 2 kids, 5 different maids, ah yee and finally popo. The house has definitely aged a lot especially since popo shifted in. Her habit of using water, loads of water to clean everything from tiles floor, to sofa, to parquet floor to our wooden dining table definitely accelerated the damage. Then again, the kids had been spending much more time in the house as compared to the initial years where it was only the 2 of us and we hardly spent time at home. Our family make-up has also changed but the house remains as it was when we 1st designed it using our tiny budget then. Along the years, we made do with an additional cupboard here and another mattress there.
We have been toying with the idea of a major renovation since moons back but it is a huge logistics challenge - where do we stay during the renovation? So, nothing was done and I sulked over the periods where the temptation was so strong and I just want to tear down the furniture and buy new ones. See, I told you that I like new things. I must have good self control. Hehe.
Suddenly, an opportunity presents itself and the whole idea of doing the major renovation comes back. Daddy Lim and I had been thinking about it hard. We even went to the extent of pulling out the floor plan and walking the house, looking in details at what needed to be done. We suddenly seemed to rediscover our house. Lol.
The whole idea is very exciting. The kids are excited when we show them pictures of very nice but expensive bed sets. Daddy Lim and I are even intending to visit some IDs soon. I wonder how things will develop from here. I like new houses. Woohoo!

Turning 4
It must be the 2nd child syndrome.
Lil Shauna had a big party this year at the Centris function room, complete with magic show, games and balloons. Lil Isaac turns 4 this month and I throw in some last minute effort to try to make "something" happen. Oops. Last year, it was worse. Lil Shauna had a birthday party at an indoor playground and we didn't even do anything for Lil Isaac. Double oops. Then mummy bought him a lousy cake to celebrate in school. Triple oops. We got away then bcos the boy was too little to demand for his party and though the cake was yucky, it was car theme. Haha. This year, we wouldnt be that lucky. He had been talking about his bday for many months and had been counting down.
I didn't have time to think much about his bday party but decided that we will throw him a party at some indoor playground. That will take away all the hassle and saved us some headache. I was busy with the Europe trip and told myself to start working on it after the trip but of course I sat on it. Lol.
His cakes were finally ordered last week and I was on a mad hunt for some indoor playground. It is either the timing wasn't right or the slot that we wanted was taken up. Eventually, we found Happy Willow and so we are going back. It is the same venue that jiejie held her bday party last year. Well, I think that is fine, humans are forgetful anyway. Hoho.
I will be going down to his school to celebrate his bday on coming Tuesday, which is one week before the actual day. I have originally intended to do the celebration on the actual day but popo has her medical apptm on coming Tuesday. So, I decided to just lump everything together and take only 1 day leave. Lil Isaac wouldn't mind... I hope. Haha.
At least I got his tiny goody bags ready.
Happy bday Lil Isaac! Don't worry, bdays happened every year. If mummy didn't do a good job this year, there is always next year! Or the following year! Or the following year! Hahaha.

Back to Normalcy
After 2 weeks of non-routine, rushing for classes, doing homework and learning spelling seems out of normalcy. The memory of the Europe trip suddenly becomes sweet and I looked forward to the Taiwan trip in November for another disruption of our routine. On that account, I am glad how time is flying past. Taiwan! Taiwan! Taiwan!
We did get used to the routine fairly quickly since it had been what we had been doing for a long time. The newest disruption will be my brother’s family shifting out of Centris to Clementi, which is a stone throw to the girls’ school but unfortunately, 2 bus stops away from the Clementi MRT. I am mildly affected. Popo definitely need some getting used to as she can no longer lugged both kids to Centris everyday and was lamenting to me, making it sound like a big deal to us when I think it is more her. She didn't really tell me what her new plans would be. I was wondering if she would now cook more at home now and whether I should get an air fryer, which reminds me of how tiny my kitchen is. Daddy Lim did mention this morning that he can no longer go home for his 1 hour gaming fix when he knocks off earlier than me now. Lol. For obvious reasons, I think he would spend more time in the office now. Lol.
Our weekend that just past had been a busy one. Other than rushing the kids for classes, we met up a lot with the Chan family – they must have missed us loads and we couldn't be gladder for extra company. Hehe. It was also a long weekend and Daddy Lim found out that he was off on both Sunday and Monday and even asked me to look for a short weekend getaway. That was less than one week from the long weekend and of course was a mission impossible. So we decided to jam pack our weekend instead.
On Saturday, we met the Chan family for dinner. The kids then caught a “scary” animated movie that wasn't that's scary. But the kids’ reaction was priceless.
After the movie, they retreated to booboo’s room. It wasn't long that we heard the girls’ screaming, which we usually tried to block out since they screamed that very often. Then, we heard Lil Isaac crying. We rushed to the room, thinking that he could have possibly hurt himself, which again is a frequent occurrence.
The room was pitch black when I opened the door and when the light was on, we saw the kids cuddled together on the bed looking frightened and the boy was crying. According to Lil Shauna, boo and Lil Isaac decided to switch off the light and they jumped back into the bed after doing so. Apparently, they spooked themselves and got too frightened. The girls started screaming and further spooked the boy. What kind of silly game was that? Luckily the super mummies went to their rescue. Haha.
On Sunday, we had church and met the Chan family for picnic at Lab Park. I love this picture. Don't you think Daddy Lim looks very much like a circus bear? Hehe.
We had dinner at the Jap restaurant at the Jurong West Sports complex before a swim and the kids were obviously very eager to do so, donning their swimming goggles even at the dinner table.
Yday was classic. We met the Chan family (again) and Auntie S and the 2 kids for ice skating @ JCube and it was great. Lil Shauna practiced her moves – she will be starting her Core 3 on 18 Oct. The rest of the kids had fun as well.
In the afternoon, we headed to the Treetop walk. I had always imagined the Treetop walk to be miles and miles of hanging bridge and was fairly disappointed to find that it was kms of hike before like 100m of hanging bridge and another kms of hike to get back to the car. Lol. Accordingly to Uncle C, we walked for a good 8km!
We all had a great walkout despite the haze. Lil Shauna was very independent and Lil Isaac hiked the whole way. He did complain that his legs were tired but manage to walk the way back whilst on an advantage to look for “treasures” with mummy. The “treasures” were unfortunately mainly rubbish especially shoes sole and I realized that a whole lot of people damaged their shoes in attempting the walk. Lol. We then adjourned to Auntie H’s house. The kids had a good shower, with plenty of Auntie H’s very expensive shower foam and nice hot chicken rice thereafter. What else other than chicken rice? We must have chicken rice for dinner at Auntie H’s house!
After a week and the busy weekend, we are definitely back to normalcy.

The newest disruption will be my brother’s family shifting out of Centris to Clementi, which is a stone throw to the girls’ school but unfortunately, 2 bus stops away from the Clementi MRT. I am mildly affected.
