After spending so many nights searching on the web, I finally found 2 PGs within "reasonable" walking distance - Talent Plus PG, a few blocks away and Edufarm PG, a few streets away.
I had wanted to take leave to recee both PGs but my mum beat me to it. She brought Lil Shauna along to take a look. They didnt join the class, but spoke to the teacher. I got to speak with her too.
The PG seems to meet all my criteria (see previous post on PG).
- It is not very far from our place.
- They dun have auntie teachers. Both teachers are in their 30s.
- The teacher smsed me about the material fees and she spelled Lil Shauna's name correctly.
- The teacher sound sweet and nice over the phone. I think she will sing well. ;p
There are other good things too.
- The kids are generally younger. In Lil Shauna's current PG, she's the youngest and I think she probably feel left out when the jiejies and gorgors do their stuff.
- They have loads of toys (which look new) and they change their toys every other day.
- They wash their toys everyday.
From the above, the class sounds apt. Then one of the June mummies who live around the corner happened to recee both PGs too. She mentioned that in comparison, the compound of Talent Plus is cleaner and more spacious. As the kids in Talent Plus are younger, they seem to be more friendly and quieter. Woohoo! I think I am gg to register Lil Shauna for Talent Plus. She will start when the maid comes along in March 2010. She had been skipping school so very frequently now. What to do? Haiz..

School Woes
I am fretting over Lil Shauna's school. Haiz, never had I expect that I will fret over her Playgroup! I supposed it is still acceptable if I am getting a few strands of white hair if she's due to enrol in primary school, but this is just PG! Soon, it will be which pre-nursery, which nursery, which kindergarten... no end. Pengz.
The maid plan will go ahead. We are going to Hkg in end Feb 10 with my bro's family. We have booked the tickets already. :) Then Daddy Lim will be gg on night shift (yes, AGAIN) soon after the trip. I have wanted the maid to come before Daddy Lim goes on night shift.
When the maid is here, Lil Shauna will no longer go to Popo's house. So, it makes little sense for her to continue her current PG, which is a stone throw from Popo's house. Otherwise, the maid will have to take train to send the princess to school in the morning and waste 2 hours roaming the street and fetch her back after her class. This is a waste of $$ and totally unproductive. Most importantly, I hate her current teachers. The bad 1st day of school, the misspelled names, Lil Shauna rejecting school. Full-stop, we are changing PG, it is just a matter of when.
So, I have been sourcing for PG nearby to our home and was thrilled to see that a PG is opening at the next block. But sadly, there arent enuff kids to open the class, which is so strange bcos I always see so many kids (Lil Shauna's age) running around at the playgroup. They all dun go to school meh?
I found one more nearby on the web just now. I think I will call and ask if they have vacancies tomorrow. If they do, then I will have to take leave to go recee. Cannot give chance this time, so what if it is only Playgroup. Cannot have old aunties as teacher, the teacher in charge must speak proper English, cannot have teachers with bad singing (Popo's criterion, LOL), must be able to spell Lil Shauna's name.
If the said PG cannot make it, then have to continue with the search. Should we pay double to enrol her in a private PG nearby? Should she go to a new PG near Popo's place and let the maid take train to and fro everyday? Haiz, decisions, decisions. Meanwhile, I just hope that Lil Shauna will get used to going to school.

Daddy Lim heard her said "Pooh bear baobao Pig, orh, orh, orh" (she was describing a pix of Pooh bear hugging Piglet and Piglet's eyes were closed). I do hope that she learnt how to speak soon on what she wants and needs. i really cant understand what "eh, eh,eh" means. :)

Everybody is Sick!
Lil Shauna is recovering from her flu but Daddy Lim is sick and I just got the flu bug last Friday. Blehhhh... The 2 jiejies are sick too. Looks like it is a matter of time that Lil Shauna falls sick again. Boohooo. I do hope that the supplement that I have been feeding her helps. Otherwise, it will again delay my plan to bring her for her jab. Her booster jab had been delayed for the longest time. Yes, lazy parents + sickly baby = bad combination. haiz..
Lil Shauna had been skipping school last week. In fact, she's rejecting school. We are not sure if the 2 hour class is too long for her but some other kids her age are already attending half or full day childcare. Maybe she simply dun like her school/ teacher/ classmates. My mum is going to try again today, starting with an hour. Hopefully this will help to keep her in school.
I suspect it is bad teacher. -_________-" My mum complained that the teachers dun seem too interested in trying to coax her. When Lil Shauna starts crying and triggered her cough and running nose, the teacher prefers my mum to bring her home. Where got like that one?
Worse, the teacher spelled her name wrongly. Maybe it is just me, but I think it is important. Otherwise, how are they gg to teach her to spell her name properly? The teacher spelled her name as "Shuana" on her work sheet and "Shuanna" on her file. Both wrong lor. Faint.
We will definitely change her PG soon. If I cant find one that is nearer to our home, we will switch her to a better one near my mum's home. This time, I must do homework.

No School
Lil Shauna didnt go to school today.
We duno why, but my mum said that she cried yday. She hasnt cried since the 2nd day of school and she would ignore whoever crying gorgors and/ or jiejies and went about her stuff. Oh, by the way, it is confirmed that she's the youngest in class. The rest are born in year 2007.
They started the 2 hour session this week. Yday, she was alright when my mum sent her to class, skipping and hopping into her classroom as usual. When my mum was there to fetch her, she said that she heard somebody crying but didnt think that it was Lil Shauna bcos she hasnt cried before and there is this jiejie who always cry. So, my mum was so surprised to see a crying Lil Shauna when the door opened and Lil Shauna started calling out for "ah mah". Aiyo, I can pix that scene. She must have looked quite pathetic. :( The teacher said that she had been crying but she only has my HP no. and she didnt want to call me bcos I am likely to be at work and Lil Shauna is not sick. So my mum left her HP no. for future emergencies.
We are still not sure why she cried. My mum second guessed that it was bcos Lil Shauna is feeling uncomfy and wanted comfort. Her little nose is still runny, but definitely much, much better. Haiz, she has been falling sick once a month and takes up to 2 to 3 weeks to recover each time. -.o"
This morning, my SIL sent Lil Shauna to school. She was clingy and didnt skip or hop to class. In fact, she was reluctant to go to school. My mum was worried and went to peek at her at 9.30am (school starts at 9am). She wasnt crying but started the moment she saw ah mah. So, she skipped school today and went shopping with ah mah instead.
I hope things will get better. Haiz.. When we get the maid, we will also switch her to the PG a few blocks away from our home. Poor Lil Shauna has to adapt to many changes too.

Bad Hair Cut
One morning, Popo called to ask if she can bring Lil Shauna for a haircut. Her fringe is starting to poke into her eyes. I reminded her to only let the hairdresser cut her fringe. The last time, I heartache when they cut her hair w/o my permission. After waiting like forever, her hair finally grew long enuff for me to tie. :)
About an hour later, Popo called me and told me proudly that only her fringe was cut and she was only charged $2 for the haircut. Actually, it was bcos Lil Shauna refused to sit down, so the hairdresser can only cut her fringe. -.o"
We went to fetch her at the end of the work day and I couldnt stop laughing when I first saw her (after the haircut). The professional hairdresser layered her fringe and it was very, very short. Lil Shauna had a very puzzled look on her face, wondering why mummy was laughing non-stop. I actually feel bad for laughing at her and feel bad for her, but I just couldnt stop. It is so fortunate that she still doesnt really grasp the concept of beauty. Otherwise, I bet she will cry her heart out.
We went to fetch her at the end of the work day and I couldnt stop laughing when I first saw her (after the haircut). The professional hairdresser layered her fringe and it was very, very short. Lil Shauna had a very puzzled look on her face, wondering why mummy was laughing non-stop. I actually feel bad for laughing at her and feel bad for her, but I just couldnt stop. It is so fortunate that she still doesnt really grasp the concept of beauty. Otherwise, I bet she will cry her heart out.
I think I do a better job than the hairdresser. Although when I do cut her fringe, it is not straight, it is definitely better than this. Heng ah, it looks a little better these few days and she still look really cute when we tie her hair. 
I told my mum that the hairdresser charge only $2 probably bcos she's guilty of the bad haircut. -.o" Popo was still very nice and tried to comfort me, reminding me that CNY is still one month away and Lil Shauna still has some time to grow back her fringe. -____________-" Like that also can ah?

How Much is 1 kg of Fats?
Have you wonder why that girl who is as skinny as a stick can eat like an elephant and yet fit into size super S? I tot about that all my life. Haiz. Although my mum is one of those plumb aunties after she gave birth to us, she was super slim, petite with waist long hair before that wor. My Dad was skinny too. So how come I dun get any of those skinny genes? Sob. The last time I fit into a S was probably in primary school. -.o" I want to be skinny too.
I have been battling with my weight for donkey years. Losing weight makes it into my new-year resolution list year and year but I dun think the resolutions were ever achieved. I am still 2 kgs away from my pre-pregnancy weight (after losing that 0.5kg from the torturous Aussie trip) and cannot fit into many of my pre-pregnancy clothes. Haiz.
Just then, my sis challenged me. Somehow, she got the fat genes (I chose to blame nature, LOL) and had been desperate to lose weight too. So, we made a bet. Whoever that can lose 1kg (or whoever more) by 31 Jan 10 will win $30 and a shopping companion.
My sis said that staying away from coke helps. So I say no to coke too. And I haven been eating excessively and refrained from popping that dark Hersey's almond chocolate that had been calling out to me. After struggling for 2 weeks on a little coke and chocolate diet, I DIDNT lose a single gram of fats! Still as heavy leh. Why ah? And I am on hormones pills to induce menses recently, which totally didnt help. Every kind of food seems extra appealing now and my tummy is constantly growling and complaining that she is hungry. Sob, no food = pathetic. I am so dead.
On the other hand, my sis is battling yo-yo weight. She's losing weight with the cut-off coke diet but gain back with the arrival of Mac's twister fries. Hohoho. But she just got a job as a dental assistant recently, which left her too tired for food, thus losing weight. She was proudly telling me last night that she's uber light now. Argghhh.. I think I am gg to lose this challenge. I think I will be ordering home delivery twister fries for her every night now until 31 Jan 10. Hohoho.
So, how much is 1kg of fats? $30. If you want, I can sell mine to you at a good discount. Lol!

I am Old Already
I think Daddy Lim will scream at me after reading this post. Lol!
I was so tired now this morning. I couldnt wake out of bed when my alarm went off and kept hitting on the snooze button until the last minute. In the office, I had to whack coffee, hoping that caffeine will give me super power and glue my eyelid to my forehead.
Why? Bcos I am addicted to the Taiwanese drama that is showing on SCV every Sat now – Xia Yi Zhai Xin Fu. I am a sucker for good (read: lovey dovey) Taiwanese and Korean dramas. But I haven felt how I felt now for a long time. For most of the recent not too bad dramas, I can still tahan and watch them when them are on Tv, i.e., once a week. But this particular one I just cannot wait. It drives me crazy without knowing what happens next and I cannot wait for one week. I must watch it now!
I tried to watch it on tu duo (online) after S goes to bed, but at that kind of hot favourite timing, everybody is online and the streaming is uber slow. It takes forever for 1 episode to load and it will stop every now and then to stream. It is super painful and super anti-climax for the episode to suddenly pause. Arrgghhh... I gave up and started pestering Daddy Lim to buy me the DVD regardless of how much it is. Newly released are normally more expensive. daddy Lim had to agree to save his poor ears. We even made special trip to JP just to buy the DVD.
And you know what? It is NOT RELEASED yet! Why like that? Sob. Got $$ oso no use. I wanted to sit on the floor in teh DVD shop and kick my legs and cry.
But heng, heng, I have a colleague who is also crazy over such dramas and her dear hubby will download for her to watch. She is chasing after the same drama too and her dear hubby had faithfully downloaded all the episodes for her. I was overjoyed and I started to "subtlety" pester her to pass me the series.
I was so happy and full of anticipation until yday. Bcos she dropped a bomb and told me that her server crashed and she only got episode 4 onwards. Boohoo. But I need to know what happened in episode 2 & 3! So last night, I tried tu duo again. After finding for the longest time, I found a channel that stream really fast and I finished 2 episodes in one night, each for about 80 mins. I only finished at almost 1am and suffered like mad this morning.
I can only say I old liao. Hmm... like that, how to go Mambo? Hohoho.

Positive Tots
I brought Lil Shauna for a trial class at Positive Tots on Saturday. I was actually supposed to bring her 2 Sats ago with some of the June mummies but came down with chicken pox. Some of the mummies who tried the class gave good feedback and even signed up. Since Lil Shauna hasnt join too many enrichment class recently, I signed her up for a trial.
Oh, that Lil Neuro Tree class which is supposed to train the right brain, I didnt sign Lil Shauna for the class eventually. I had contemplated signing up for 1 term, 10 lessons at $500 and almost did if it is not bcos the admin lady was too busy to entertain me. After thinking thru' I somehow feel that Lil Shauna seems a little too young to really sit down, listen and obey instructions. It is also too torturous for me to try to tame her and make her sit down like a good student for that 1 hour. So, I have decided to sign her up for some other playgym instead, let her run around and expel some energy.
Back to the Positive Tots class. All are well except that the class is conducted in Tanglin Shopping Center, at 4.15pm on Saturdays! That is to say, if Daddy Lim happen to work late, I will have to lug my bag + push stroller to take MRT from JW, change train at Raffles Place and then walk from Orchard MRT to Tanglin Shopping Center. -_________-" Imagine Lil Shauna happens to be uncooperate on such a day! The timing is bad as well. I have never sign Lil Shauna for class in the late afternoon and I duno how she would react.
Lil Shauna was clingy when we stepped into the class. It is strange how Lil Shauna can be totally at ease when she's with other kids but clamped up when there are too many adults around. She always took awhile to warm up in such classes. Luckily there were many big balls and she started picking, throwing and kicking balls.

After thinking thru' I somehow feel that Lil Shauna seems a little too young to really sit down, listen and obey instructions. It is also too torturous for me to try to tame her and make her sit down like a good student for that 1 hour. So, I have decided to sign her up for some other playgym instead, let her run around and expel some energy.
Back to the Positive Tots class. All are well except that the class is conducted in Tanglin Shopping Center, at 4.15pm on Saturdays! That is to say, if Daddy Lim happen to work late, I will have to lug my bag + push stroller to take MRT from JW, change train at Raffles Place and then walk from Orchard MRT to Tanglin Shopping Center. -_________-" Imagine Lil Shauna happens to be uncooperate on such a day! The timing is bad as well. I have never sign Lil Shauna for class in the late afternoon and I duno how she would react.
Lil Shauna was clingy when we stepped into the class. It is strange how Lil Shauna can be totally at ease when she's with other kids but clamped up when there are too many adults around. She always took awhile to warm up in such classes. Luckily there were many big balls and she started picking, throwing and kicking balls.
Digressing, my sis says that Lil Shauna is insecure, that is why she is always so sticky to me. Choy, choy, choy! But then again, she can be really sticky at time. It is as if she's glued to me. Last Sun, I brought her to a colleague's wedding dinner bcos I felt bad asking my mum to babysit Lil Shauna. She was happy when I told her that we were going gaiagi but stuck to me the moment we reached the hotel. I bet she was tired as well but she just refused to speak and cling to me for her dear life. For people who didnt look properly, they would have easily mistaken that I have brought a koala bear to the wedding dinner. -.o" Yes, it was that bad.

Lil Shauna has learnt to sing many songs. In fact, she actually pick up words thru' songs.
This is her singing "Rain, Rain, Go Away". She can do the whole song by herself when she's in a good mood.

DisneyLand @ Hong Kong
I have decided! We are going to Disneyland in Hong Kong!
We will probably go in March or in April, so that we can spend our 4th wedding anniversary in Hong Kong. Hohohoo. I am one happy mummy. I had been cracking my mind over where to go for our next holiday. I need something to look forward to. DisneyLand, DisneyLand, DisneyLand.
I had actually considered Hong Kong all this while bcos it is only 3.5 hours by flight and there is DisneyLand + Ocean Park. These will keep Lil Shauna entertained. Before the Aussie trip, I had been ambitious and wanted to conquer Korea and Japan but my mindset changed totally upon our returns. I refused to give Lil Shauna more chances to attempt murder on me. But I couldnt make up my mind about Hong Kong until my colleague came back from Hong Kong and commented that Lil Shauna should enjoy DisneyLand.
Mai tu liao. Any cheap package? Hohoho.

PlayGroup 2
It is so frustrating to be without a computer at home. Daddy Lim seems to be recovering from his cold turkey. I am starting to feel the inconvenience but still tahan-able. Now, I can only blog in the office before work and during lunch + no pix. It takes a few days to finish 1 long post. -.o" And it is so boring with all the words and no pix. Still, I will not fall into Daddy Lim's trap and temptation and buy a new computer.
Popo secretly brought Lil Shauna to the Playgroup (PG) yday. I already expected that. She's worried that I will withdraw Lil Shauna from PG and waste $$. She purposely arrived late so that so to give the class time to settle. The kids were singing when she arrived with Lil Shauna. She called me at 9.30am to tell me that Lil Shauna took to the class like a fish to water and happily joined in the singing. Then she go on to describe how she played and socialised with other kids + how she allowed and wanted the teacher to carry her. No tears at all!
But Popo forgot to bring biscuits for Lil Shauna and she has no biscuits for biscuits time. Popo had to ask other jiejies to spare some biscuits for Lil Shauna, which she happily chomped down.
The teacher seems to pay special attention to Lil Shauna or so my mum said. I bet it must be bcos of my outburst teh day before. Hohoho. She even went on to say that the class started almost immediately after we left on Monday.

Bad 1st day at Playgroup
It was bad. Very, very bad.
Lil Shauna woke up and was joyful. She was chatting happily with Pappy and was jumping and running around. There was no tint of crankiness, so much so that it makes me wonder if her bad behavior the day before had been a dream. I mean, how can such an angel be capable of being torturous? Hohoho.
The plan was to send her to Popo's place and Popo to bring her to the Playgroup alone. Daddy Lim and I will have to play detective and tiptoe behind them. This is to prevent Lil Shauna from spotting me and refusing to go to school. Popo was dead against us going. So this is what Popo agreed on eventually.
However, all plans changed bcos of the rain (or more so Popo changes her mind). 1st of all, Popo totally forgot that she has to help send the jiejies to CC bcos my SIL cannot handle 2 big bags + 2 kids. Well, the bags are indeed really big and seems pretty heavy too. Then, Popo forgot to bring umbrella and Lil Shauna is such an umbrella snatcher. She just cant leave the umbrella alone. So, we ended up walking with Popo and Lil Shauna to school.
The door only opened a few mins to 9am and the sheltered waiting area outside the school door was so miserable. When the door finally opened, the 2 teachers proceeded with the usual hand-mouth and temperature checks. And they are still using the oral thermometers, which took forever. Goodness!
Lil Shauna happened to be the 1st at the door and she dashed enthusiastically into the classroom right after the checks. Toys were poured out for the kids to entertain themselves. But the toys are more suitable for older kids. It was then that I realised that Lil Shauna is probably one of the youngest among the lot. Soon, the kids and caregivers flooded the room. One teacher disappeared to call parents of missing kids while the other one was calling out to parents to fill forms. It was plain chaotic.
I dun see how difficult or important the form is. It is about the kid's favourite food, cartoon character, etc. I had mine done in 5 mins. But the form filling process was still on-going at 9.15am. By then, Lil Shauna was bored with the toys and wanted to go gaigai. I brought her out and they were still asking for payment and stuff when I brought her back. That is when Popo decided that Lil Shauna should join the class, resulting in a screaming and crying baby.
Lil Shauna couldnt stop crying and started coughing so badly that she almost vomited. The form filling thingy was still on-going. That was when I decided that we will go and we left. Daddy Lim then informed the teacher and she did follow us out but with the intent to take back some forms.
Forms again!!! That was when I blew and shouted at the teacher. Why are they so concerned about the unimportant forms instead of entertaining the kids and starting class proper? If today is for form filling, then why bring the kids? If the school is willing to take in kids her age, then teh school must be able to find activities to entertain her and not pour toys and expect her to self-entertain! The teacher apologised and said that it will definitely be better the next day. I was too pissed and stopped myself from talking more or risked exploding on the spot.
Lil Shauna was happie when we left and had a good Mac breakfast. I have decided that we will give the school one last chance and to withdraw Lil Shauna + demand our $$ back despite the no refund policy. I told my mum to skip school the next day, just in case they are still busy with their forms filling. -.o"
Haiz.. Why must 1st day of school turn out like that? To think that I was so excited and even took leave to go to school with her. I hope things turn out well. Otherwise, it is school searching again. It just makes me realised the importance of childhood learning now and it makes me wonder of paying more really gives one better service. Fyi, the playgroup that we are sending Lil Shauna now cost peanuts. Well, on hindsight, I pity the teacher too lah to meet parents like me who are too gan cheong about their kids and explode at the slightest things. No wonder there is always shortage of teachers. Hohoho.

Monster Baby
As Daddy Lim had mentioned in the earlier post, Lil Shauna had been terrible yday. She was a monster. I have every reason to believe that she was attempting murder - on me.
Other than the fact that she woke up at 3am to talk and jump on the bed, she is sick and had been unusually sticky (to me). She "hates" Popo to the core and refused to let Popo to touch or come near her. When Popo carried her, she will struggle and cry and scream for "mummy". However, when mummy carried her, she will struggle and wriggle, yet refusing to walk. Attempts to put her down will result in a lying-on-the-floor baby, regardless of where we were. -.o"
She created hell for me by further refusing to talk. She is able to communicate with us now (sometimes) with simple words. Yday, everything was "eh, eh, eh" and she had to whine at every single thing and cried at the slightest thing that dun go her way. Crying just further blocked her little nose. Leaving her even more uncomfortable and cranky. Haiz.. I was exhausted by the time she was knocked out. My weekends are more torturous than my weekdays. It only convince me further that we need a maid.
Strangely, Lil Shauna was an angel this morning. She probably remembers that Mummy had been just as evil to her yday and decided that Pappy is her best friend. She was so cuddly to Pappy this morning.
Then, the school has to screw it all. Arrggggghhh.. I will blog about the bad day at playgroup today. Pui, pui, pui! And no pix until the computer is repaired. Haiz

Updated!
Bet Mummy Lim is dying to post, but the lack of a computer means she can't really do much atm hahaha
Today was funny. I was snoozzing in the living room and Mummy Lim was half awake in the bedroom (Shauna woke at 330am and partied till 430am lol). All of a sudden, Mummy Lim dashed out and said "Baobao is missing!". I jumped and told her to check the curtains (Shauna likes to play hide-in-the-curtains). Then, Xiaoyi's door opened and there was Shauna, laid out on the mattress with Tigger in her arms. She then flashed us her were-you-looking-for-me smile. Priceless :)
well for the most part, Lil Shauna is down with a nasty cough. Coughs day and night and sometimes even throwing up. *sigh* Pappy's fault; that silly cough virus passed on to her. 2009 has been a year of falling sick. Mummy Lim has been trying her best to accommodate the sick baby. So have I, but being on this night shift means my effort is very limited. *double sigh*
Today marks Lil Shauna's first day at school!Popo has even bought her a Barney schoolbag, so i hear. heehee We, the parents, will be observing from a safe distance at the school. Popo says we can;t get too close or Lil Shauna will wanna stick to Mummy Lim.
Speaking of that; Mummy Lim commented that Lil Shauna will let her brother carry (as oppossed to letting me carry her). Hmm.. my first reaction is: "Let your brother carry lah!" hahaha i dunno what her actual meaning is though. true, sometimes Shauna won't let me carry cos Mummy Lim is around. I mean, given a choice, Shauna will stick to Mummy Lim rather than me. Shauna seems to stick alot more to Mummy Lim. Good for me hurhurhur
I can't connect very well to a baby. Maybe i'll do better when she grows up some more and can actually start talking properly. For now, i'm already doing my best. Can't do much if I'm on nightshift of working on weekends.. Maybe a new job will do me good? pffft...

Happie New Year!
1st post of the year!
A short one bcos I am late for work. ;p
So anything exciting?
Yes... Lil Shauna fell sick, the computer crashed with my precious photos still in it on new year's eve and we slept thru' from year 2009 to 2010, with Daddy Lim & Lil Shauna taking turns to cough violently and disturb my sleep. What a great way to start a new year. -.o"
But it is OK, things will only get better. :)
