Funny Things that Kids Say

Lil Shauna offered to pray last night. She prayed:

Dear Lord,

Help didi to be brave in school and not cry. Help me to recover from my running nose. Pls take away the mosquito bites on mummy’s leg. And help pappy not to scold people when other people make him angry.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Muahahahaha. Daddy Lim lost his cool at Lil Isaac on Sunday evening. The little boy threw a tantrum and was yelled at by Daddy Lim.

Then, Lil Shauna asked for a bedtime story and Daddy Lim was rattling on about how Singapore was found, based on what he remembered from the history textbooks. Lil Isaac must be trying to sleep. The poor tired boy didn't have his nap and woke up at 7ish that morning. So he told Daddy Lim,”Pappy, pls stop it, it is very annoying!”

Haha, we have funny kids.

No Improvements

Lil Isaac hasn't seemed to improve much pertaining to his unwillingness to go to school and the crying episodes when boarding the school bus as well as in school. Popo still complains that he cries on some day when it is time to go to school, depending on his mood. We had been firmed and I hope he gets the message that whether tantrum or not, school remains. Every day, I will ask Lil Shauna if didi cried in the school bus and in school. Lil Isaac will usually deny that he cried and when we ask him why he cried, he will either evade our question or simply tell us that he is scared. Unfortunately, he can’t really articulate what he is scared about. We would almost every day encourage him to be brave and not cry. On days that he didn't cry, we would tell him how brave he had been and asked him to remain brave.

Last Sunday, he cried during phonics class as well but stopped shortly. I think he cried also bcos there was a new boy who cried and thus influenced him. I thought Lil Isaac is making improvements for phonics class and am quite hopeful that the crying will soon stop. Apparently, things aren’t as rosy as I thought.

This morning, Mrs Chong, the school principal called and I had a bad feeling. As expected, Mrs Chong called to talk about Lil Isaac. The issue of his persistent crying was brought to Mrs Chong’s attention. Mrs Chong said that she had intentionally observed Lil Isaac during one of the Chinese lessons and saw that Lil Isaac would be ok while the teacher is teaching. The children would usually sit together on the mat for the lesson. But Lil Isaac would start crying when the children are instructed to go back to their seat to do their work. This seems to be the reason why he cried and would happen not only during Chinese lesson. Mrs Chong seems to imply too that the teachers gave him leeway when he started crying and she put her foot down (during that particular Chinese lesson) that he wasn't going to get away with crying. She said that Lil Isaac was told to go back to his seat and to do his homework in that instance.

She called to check if we know the reason of his crying. I shared what I know, which is as good as nothing. Mrs Chong encouraged us to ask Lil Isaac and let her know if we could find out anything. At the same time, they would continue to observe him.

Ms Chia, her ex-form teacher and probably one of his teachers now, called in the late afternoon to share her observations since school starts. She told me that Lil Isaac will exclaim that he doesn't want to do his work in school and will complain that he is tired when asked to do his school work such that the assistant teacher has to hold his hand to do the writing, which is not beneficial to him. At times, he could cry up to one hour in school! She asked me if Lil Isaac’s behavior has changed in the recent months and I couldn't really answer. He is alright in the evenings but I can’t speak for day time but I suspect that Popo gave him a lot of leeway. Seriously, outside of school, all the kids do is play or watch TV now. The only major change that has occurred recently is Daddy Lim going on night shift and the kids getting plenty of iPad time, which I wanted to cut down now that Daddy Lim is back. When I tried to revise his ABC with him or do phonics homework, there will always be a lot of coaxing required but that is not something new. It has always been the case. I am so worried now that I hear how bad the situation has been at school.

Daddy Lim and I would have some time alone with Lil Isaac this evening while jiejie goes for her drawing class. I thought this would be a good opportunity to shower him some undivided attention, tender loving care and probed him for answers on why he has been crying. It is also time to do more constructive play, more revision and less or no iPad time in the evening time. Of course, we need lots of prayer as well. By the way, the last visit to the PD on Lil Isaac’s development, we were told that Lil Isaac is meeting his developmental milestone less his pronunciation, which I don't think is a great concern. This is really a mystery.

Mummy Lim

Adding on:
We brought Lil Isaac for ice cream and tried to ask him for the reason for his persistent crying. As expected, we couldn't put our finger down. At one moment, he said that he wanted mummy, then switched to say that he is scared of Ms Chia, then to wanting to stay at home to play. So we changed tactics and kept encouraging him to be brave, explained why he has to go to school to learn and assured him that we will be there for him at the end of everyday after school. We are not sure if it is going to help or whether it would at all. The holidays also mean away from school for a few days and that aren't going to help things. Lil Isaac also asked for the ipad the moment we settled down at home, which we firmly said no. Instead, he revised his ABCs after much coaxing and threats and we did some art and craft. I hope and pray that things will turn better.

Resurrection of the Eyebrow

I last did my eyebrow in May 2012 and that was like more than 1.5 years ago. Eyebrow embroidery is supposed to last for about 8 months to 1 year depending on individual. They are not cheap, the last one cost me about $500 but what really made me procrastinated is the time to do it (I took about 3 hours the last time) and more critically, the time taken for the brow to start looking natural. In the 1st week or so, I will basically look like la pi xiao xin and that is not funny. Lol. So ironical.

The beauty salon that I last did my eyebrow is in West Mall and I do not have the time to travel. I had been hoping to find some salon in JP to get my brow done. I have checked a few salons and it is either that the price is not right (crazily expensive) or doesn't give me the comfort level to trust them with my precious, though barely there eyebrow.

My SIL had her eyebrow done at some salon ran by some PRCs in JP some time back. The results turned out great and I started exploring the idea. I finally got my eyebrow done on Saturday at that salon that I wouldn't have ventured if it is not for my SIL’s trial and the experience turned out alright.

The plan was to do it on Friday evening but I had to miss the Company bus and Popo was sick and asked for help. So I shifted my appointment to Saturday morning and had to bring Lil Shauna along bcos they skipped swimming as the little girl was having the runs yet refused to stay at home to rest. As a result, she had her first pedicure done in her life, with nail art somemore.

Unfortunately, the little girl has been pretty rough with her rabbit and her rabbit is a little disfigured now.

The experience wasn't much different from the first. I had asked for the same lady who did my SIL’s brow (Jane) and she gave me a feel of being very experienced. Jane drew my difficult brow and got that done in less than 10 mins, with my approval. I remembered that this procedure took like forever when I did it the last time. Then, that lady was measuring it to such precision, short of using a ruler. The whole process was done in an hour and cost me $380. I understood that it is also faster as I had my brow done before. Fast is good for me, especially with a sick Lil Shauna waiting for me. This is me, with my freshly cut brows.

This was me, when my brow was 1st done over a year ago. It seems like it was shorter and fatter the 1st time. Both my eyebrow and me as well. Lol.

So I am back looking like la bi xiao xin and had purposely cut my bangs a while ago in preparation for the big day. The yucky oily lotion that I have to apply to protect the colour isn’t helping but instead made my bangs oily and clutter in lumps. I am so conscious of my brow now that I am back at work and am half suspecting that everyone is looking at my big fat dark eyebrow when they are looking at me. I ended up avoiding eye contact. I hope that the color will fade soon.

CNY is just around the corner. I wonder and hope that I will at least look more normal by then. Oh, and I have to go back for touch up again in one month’s time. What a price to pay for beauty and convenience.

Mummy Cannot Fall Sick

But I did. And I had to fall sick on a Sunday, which is worse bcos the kids were full of energy and looking for fun regardless of whether mummy is dead or alive.

Lil Shauna probably passed the virus to me. I woke up feeling funny yday and knew that something was wrong. I had the chill too and got to nap in the late morning while Daddy Lim and Popo looked after the kids. It didn't help much and I was still feeling bad. I finally vomited before sending the kids for their phonics class. Then, my body goes into auto shutdown mode and I dozed whenever I could – in the phonics class waiting area, in the car, in the indoor playground. I even went to bed at 8pm last night while Daddy Lim entertained the kids until it was bedtime. I have to mention for the 258th times that I am so glad that he is back on day shift. I always feel very dead whenever I fall sick and I wonder how would I have survived if I was alone with the kids on Sunday. I hope this toxic virus stops here. It would be crazy if any of us falls prey to the same virus again after it has almost knocked down everybody in the family. Daddy Lim did complain that his tummy feels a little funny. Oops.

On a different note, we joined the girls at the Botanic Garden on Saturday. Lil Shauna was visibly lethargic and didn't join in too much of the running and scooting. Thank God that she’s much better and managed to go to school on Monday. Then we had MacDonalds for dinner and there was this kiddy ride outside of the restaurant. Then, out of his pocket, Joshua actually gave a dollar to Lil Isaac to ride the kiddy ride. Though Lil Isaac just took it for granted like any other rides, I was so touched by Joshua’s little gesture. Oh gosh, the kids are all growing up! I had to take this picture to record down this precious memory.

Shoo Virus

Lil Isaac was down with stomach flu and we brought him to the doctor on Sunday after he vomited 2x. He recovered by Monday but I think he passed the virus to Popo. She started to vomit on Thursday night and complained of chill yday. Lil Shauna was not spared and started having the runs yday.

Last night was bad. In the night alone, she woke up 3x for the toilet. I gave her medicine, which she complained was yucky but that didn't help. I gave her also medicine, which she also complained and that seems to stop the run.

Adding on the woes, the kids woke up with running nose. Aiyo, didn't Lil Isaac just recovered from flu not too long ago?

Lil Shauna must be feeling bad. She asked to nap in the afternoon, something that she does when she's very sick. She woke up and had loose stools again. It took me a long time to give medicine to the grouchy girl. I wonder if they really taste that bad.

We are heading out to botanic park to meet the rest of the gang and I hope the medicine works. The toilets in the park on few and far. We actually considered staying at home but the girl though sick wanted some fresh air. This will give Popo a break as well. But I guess we wouldn't stay out very late today.

I hope the virus stops there. It is no joke manning sick and grouchy kids. They should be well by CNY, right? In fact, Popo really want them to go to school on Monday so that she can make preparations for CNY. Our family hasn't made any preparation.

The Big Baby

It is almost 3 weeks since school started and it seems like the little tiger is taking a long time to adapt to school. He is always reluctant to go to school and would make a big fuss every morning, coupled with crying. We had thought that it was normal after the long school holidays though Lil Shauna gave us none of that when she progressed to Nursery class. I didn't even have to go to school with her on the initial days that she started Nursery.

Days turned to weeks and Lil Isaac is still fussing every school day. It has gotten so bad that his Chinese Teacher had to complain about him and told us that even the pre-nursery kids had stopped crying but our big boy hasn't. According to Popo, in recent days, he wasn't the most willing to go to school but has stopped crying when it is time to board the school bus. We were elated and thought that maybe things are starting to work out. Then, Popo was told by the same Chinese teacher that Lil Isaac still cries when he reaches school. And sometimes, he can be very persistent. Aiyo.

Lil Shauna is my informant and I would ask her everyday if didi cried. She said that the tiger cried during the Chinese enrichment class yday. Lil Isaac was fussing to go home bcos he was tired but of course was full of energy once class is over and he hits the playground at Centris. In fact, that is what exactly his teacher commented about him too. In contrast, Lil Shauna is such an angel and good learner.

Popo said that the boy didn't cry when he boarded the bus this morning. Well, looking at it positively, he is getting better as compared to crying all the way from before boarding the bus to reaching school in the past. He is definitely stickier as compare to Lil Shauna but I think he will slowly grow out of it. He is still crying at his phonics class but the current teacher is fantastic with young kids. Last Sunday, he came out of the class and told me proudly that he only cry a little bit. I wonder if it has anything to do with birth order. In this particular aspect, I do hope that the little big quickly grow up and and out of it.

Last 2 Nights

Can you hear the clock ticking? Hehe.
I couldn't wait and have been counting down every single day. We only have 2 more nights to go and there will be no more rushing to catch the company bus, no more MRT rides with tired kids in the evening, no more slaves to the almighty iPad, no more grumbling from Popo about how tired she is (hopefully) and no more 200% effort on Sundays to keep the kids entertain! Looking back, time passes fairly quickly and the 7+ weeks seem to fly by. However, for unexplainable reasons, these last few days had been extra painful. Maybe I have grown lazy at the aspects of extra help in 2 days’ time.

Daddy Lim said that he is looking forward to coming back to normal life too. He had been missing out so much of the kids’ life for the past 7+ weeks. It is almost the case of not seeing them at all on weekdays and barely much on Sunday before he left for his nap in preparation of night shift. Fortunately, the kids don't seem to have distant themselves much from him. Kids are so adaptable.

Happy, happy, happy, happy! Chant with me!

Party Time

I went out with the usual gang on Saturday night. It was great.. no, it was better than great. Lol.

The last time I club was in June 2013 and that was more than half a year ago, to Mink. Then, I went with my super young colleagues and the youngest was 10 years my juniors. Now that i think back, I too wonder where I found that courage to party with the young kids. The Mink crowd was generally that young as well. Imagine how “young” I had felt clubbing with that crowd then.

There was little urge to club since that. I was busy with family and my new job, until Mummy S showed us her countdown pix and had to tell me how great the event went. I felt that little tug. My heart itched a little and I thought how great it was if I was at the countdown event with her. The "working hard looking after kids" during the past 7 weeks probably contributed to that desire to club as well.

Then, the opportunity came. Mummy S would be clubbing with her other gang at AquaNova (AN) and invited our usual gang. My eyes sparkled and my heart leaped. Coincidentally, it was on a Saturday night and Daddy Lim would be off on Saturdays. I couldn't resist and had to ask Daddy Lim for permission, which he graciously agreed. Hohoho.

Unlike the previous party, I didn't get too excited before the big night simply bcos I was too busy manning the kids. I did try out my smoky eyes make-up and thought about the outfit beforehand since it would be a great rush on Saturday itself. I could only get ready and get out of the house after one kid turned in, which is the usual agreement. We even visited USS on Saturday itself and didn't leave until we caught the fireworks. It works out great for the kids. They were tired and turned in fairly early. Lol. I saw the watsapp msgs of the others getting ready earlier in the night and was feeling anxious as the clock ticked. Still things turned out great and I got out of the house at 10ish and caught a cab soon after. Phew.

Mummy S’ other big gang was coming in too at about the same time as us and my first realization was that we are all about the same age. Yeah! AN was crowded with the same-age group as well. In fact, we were probably the younger ones and I love that. I truely felt young this time. Lol. And the crowd really partied hard. In the many youngster clubs that we been to, the young girls were usually clad in all sort of short, tight dresses. They mostly jumped up and down to duno-what music instead of real dancing. Their dresses were afterall that short and tight for any real dancing. In AN, the older crowd was definitely well-groomed, with variety more than the little dresses and they really partied. I was telling my girls that they looked like they were past-cheongsters and had no place to party when they grow older (like us) and so danced to their heart content in AN. Lol. Needless to say, I had a wonderful night dancing away and I suffered from the usual back and knee pain after the night. Lol. I saw that the rest of the girls having a great time too especially Mummy S, who seemed to be on cloud 9 throughout. It was great.

The night passes really quickly and I had to tear myself away at 2.30am. Unfortunately, I still have my mummy duties to play the next day. Daddy Lim was a gem. He promised to look after the kids the next day and did just that. The next morning, Lil Shauna jumped on me at 8am and Lil Isaac a little later. Then Daddy Lim took over and brought them to bfast ALL BY HIMSELF, so that I could sleep in. I am impressed by the man.

Overall, I had a great night and a great rest. I also had fun people watching and making funny comments about people who danced awkwardly. But who cares? Everybody had great fun, even those who were dancing with 2 left legs and hands. Yeah!

Sicko Tiger

Lil Isaac is down with stomach flu. Poor boy.
He vomited and created a big mess on Saturday night at 11+pm. I was actually out with my girlfriends and Popo had to clear up the mess on my behalf. Popo said that it was so bad and it stunk up the whole room. She had to throw away some pillows and blosters that were beyond salvaged. There was so much washing that Popo was still up at 3am when I was home. Poor Popo too.

Lil Isaac has almost no appetite on Sunday morning. Daddy Lim said that he barely touched his bfast. In the afternoon, he only asked for chocolate ice cream and took a few mouthfuls. We managed to feed him some udon soup and egg for lunch and were hoping that his appetite would improve in the evening.

However, there was no improvement. We ordered fishball noodles soup for dinner, hoping that it would be easy on his little tummy. He coughed and attempted to vomit at the table and I was holding up a plastic bag for him just in case he does vomit. The next moment, he merlioned. I was so glad that we didn't make a huge mess. As expected, he couldn’t stomach anything and we decided to bring him to the doctor.

We were lucky that there was only 1 patient before us at the clinic. The doctor diagnosed him with stomach flu and asked us not to give him any food until his condition improves, i.e., him not vomiting at just water. Milk was a no-no. The doctor said that we could give him very diluted milk before bed. No milk was such an agony to the little tiger, who was already asking for milk in the evening after he vomited. I told him that the doctor said that he could only have a little milk which he immediately protested and said that he wanted a lot of milk. Though sick, still very cute.

Zaky didn't have anything for dinner, just the medicine and water. He asked for milk before bed but I managed to coax him to bed without any. Phew. Then I woke up at 1am when Popo opened the door to check on the kids. Then Zaky coughed and woke up at 3+am. I was so worried that he would vomit and standby with the all wonder plastic bag. He asked for water and then asked for milk. When I told him that he cannot have milk, he asked for fresh milk. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry at 3am in the morning.

I tried to use delay tactic by telling him that Popo was making his milk but it didn't work. He insisted angrily that he wanted milk and he wanted it now and he wanted mummy to make his milk now. I got up and made him some very diluted milk which he down in one continuous gulp. He then regurgitated some. When I was cleaning up, he said that he was hungry and wanted to eat rice. We had white bread instead and video-called Daddy Lim. He must have looked super cute to Daddy Lim too, munching on bread at 3.30am. I told Lil Isaac that he could only have one slice of bread, which he said that he wanted to eat so many slices bcos he was 100 hungry. Too cute. Fortunately, he was happy to go back to dreamland after 1 slice of bread. We slept on the sofa for the remaining morning as I was worried that his little tummy would protest. I woke up whenever he coughs or stirs, worrying that he would vomit but he was fine.

This morning, I was zombified. Zaky will be skipping school today. I hope Lil Shauna would not insist to stay at home too. Most importantly, speedy recovery and not to pass the virus to jiejie. Jiejie is such a poor thing too. Lil Isaac got all the attention bcos he was sick but she was such a dear and tried her very best to accommodate the sicko tiger. Things would not be so smooth sailing if it had been the other way round. So proud of my little big girl.

Counting Down

I am counting down. There are only 5 more days to go. I cannot be gladder and could hardly hide my smile at the thought. It had been 7 long weeks and I finally caught that little light at the end of the tunnel. When I had to bring Lil Isaac to the doctor last night, I really hated this dreadful night shift and couldn't wish more for Daddy Lim to be back. Now, soon he would and we have survived well.

Once he is back, we would have to make all the adjustments again but they are generally good adjustments. I had plenty of great time and bonding with the kids these 7 weeks and would gladly share them with Daddy Lim now.  Lil Shauna had plenty of homework and spelling to do now that school is picking up speed. I need Daddy Lim to occupy Lil Isaac so that I could do more with the girl. Lil Isaac could also benefit with more ABC practice and stories than be hooked to that almighty iPad.

What I appreciate most is the car ride home at the end of the day instead of having to lug the kids to take the train. Daddy Lim being around on Sundays would also be great too. Though we have also grown accustomed to the Sunday routine. Yday, we headed to IMM for arcade, glue art and playground fun.

Still, I can hardly wait for him to come back to day shift. Shoo, night shift, shoo!

Last 2 Weeks

We are almost there. To be exact, we have 2 weeks (less 1 day) to go before Daddy Lim officially ends his 8-week night shift. Can you see me doing cartwheels? We are still hanging on and I would proudly say that we have survived pretty well. Nevertheless, I totally welcome the old routine. It is super tiring to lug the tired kids (and a tired Popo) back home via MRT after a hard day of work. Additionally, school has started and so have the homework, reading practices and spelling. It is almost impossible to do homework (or anything else) with Lil Shauna unless Lil Isaac is given the almighty iPad, which also distracts jiejie. I also gladly welcome Daddy Lim back on day shift so that we can share the load of babysitting in the evening.

We are surviving Sundays very well, spending $$ but happily. Hohoho.
Last Friday night, Popo had a meltdown. She complained bitterly that I am treating her as invisible now and doesn't talk to her. She even threatened to shift out and to stay on her own. I wasn’t in my best tone but I think I have successfully delivered the message – everyone is tired and hanging on. She has been angry recently, often yelling at the kids. To avoid starting a fight, I try my very best to oblige her commands (some which I find totally illogical and crazy) and she’s constantly yelling away, no wonder I wouldn't talk to her. I also told her that it is a personal choice to be happy. Since a few weeks back, I have tried my very best to be positive and I think it is working. I have been enjoying my Sundays with the kids, though we would all be exhausted at the end of the day. Last weekend, I heard her commenting to the kids that she doesn't want to yell at them. I also tried to speak nicely to her. I wonder if she gets into her crazy mode bcos of her medical appointment, which took place today. Well, so long as all is well.

Last Sunday, I brought the kids to Happy Willow after church and phonics and we had a blast. I spent at least a good hour playing with the kids and some other children. We played so much until the other children’s parents thanked me for helping and the owner of Happy Willow commented that I was very active.

The kids were so tired at the end of the day such that Lil Shauna bummed herself onto the stroller whenever she gets the opportunity. Lol.

This morning, I was on leave to look after the kids while Popo went for her medical. We scooted and had ice cream before the school bus came to pick up. Lil Isaac was as usual, reluctant to go to school. He cried pitifully when the school bus comes but mummy shoved him up anyway. Muahahaha.

Chicken Game

Lil Isaac insisted that I buy a toy for him. He eventually settled for this when I know that the game may be a little too difficult for him. Luckily, the toy isn't too expensive.

As expected, we only managed to play the game the proper way one time. Then everybody wanted to play the game their own way. One of them wanted to only poke the feathers while the other one wanted to shake eggs.
Eventually, they decided to play a different game together, a game that they invented. Poor chicken is dropping all his feathers.
Well, so long as they don't fight, any game is good with me.

While they were playing, I heard their conversation.

LS: Didi, are you a boy chicken or girl chicken.
LI: Boy chicken.
LS: Ok, then you cannot lay eggs, so no eggs for you.
LI: Ok, then I am the girl chicken.
ML: !!!!!!

And if you realised, the box is a picture of a rooster with eggs. Hmmm, let's take it that he is a protective father, guarding his babies. Hoho.

The Tooth Fairy Came

Mummy J confirmed my fear – using the blogger app, the pix can’t be inserted in the middle of the text. That is painful. Then she told me that I could blog and insert pix via blogspot website and voila! Unfortunately, though Note 3 has a huge screen, it is still somewhat painfully to try to do so via the main webpage. Imagine what you see on a computer screen is squeezed onto a Note 3 screen. Ahh.. my poor eyes.

Lil Shauna was excited about the visit of the Tooth Fairy. I needed the kids to sleep and instead of telling them to wait to peep at the Tooth Fairy, I told them that she would only come when they are asleep. I am so creative. Haha. I gave Lil Shauna a little container for her little tooth.

Her little tooth looks so tiny even in her small palm.

And she gamely posed for a toothless grin.

Actually, she isn’t really toothless. The adult tooth has somehow started growing without waiting for its predecessor to leave. It is much bigger than the rest and not growing straight due to the lack of space. Hmph.. Fortunately and unfortunately, that should be fixed when she has to wear braces and that face guard thing when she is about 8 years old to guide her upper jaw to grow faster, which will resolve her bite issue. I am already hearing the dentist’s cashier go ka-ching!

So, she happily placed the container with that tooth under a pillow and slept on that pillow that night. She isn’t a pillow person and sacrificed doing so for her precious tooth. The Tooth Fairy did come, wrote her a note, thank her for the tooth and gave her $10 in exchange.

The next morning, Lil Shauna woke up really early, while I was getting ready for work, with the container in her hand.

LS: Pappy, where is my tooth?
DL: The Tooth Fairy took it. Hey, she left a note too! It says, “Dear Shauna, thank you for the tooth. I love it very much.”
LS: But where is the money?
DL: Here. Wow! The Tooth Fairy left you $10!
LS: (Peeping into the container) Oh, I thought the Tooth Fairy would leave a coin. Hehe.

Oops, I must have been too generous. Maybe she would be happier to receive a dollar in exchange of her tooth. Lol. When I went home that night, Lil Shauna was asking why didn't see the Tooth Fairy. Lil Isaac was more imaginative. He said that he didn't see the Tooth Fairy too, but there was something shiny… Haha. Too cute!

Did you see the Tooth Fairy? She is really pretty. Hehe.

Last Sunday

Last Sunday, we were late for church and it was jiejie’s 1st day with the big kids. She was asking to skip church when she knew that we would be late. Church wasn't that fun in her perspective. However, I insisted and assured her that I would bring her to her class and it is better to be late than never. When we arrived at the new classroom, it was filled with kids. I thought I did catch a glimpse of her K2 friends but couldn't be sure. I was a little worried about leaving here there but somehow knew that she would do fine.

Lil Isaac was sticky and I had to use the toilet excuse to escape from the room to attend the service. Popo was there with him despite him being promoted to the big boy class and he still cried at times. Aiyo. Lil Shauna was so much braver then. Lil Isaac took the Holy Communion with me last Sunday. This is his second time doing so.

When we went to pick Lil Shauna, they were playing games and she had so much fun that she refused to leave. Now, she thinks that church is fun and she asked to go back next week. I wonder if they do games every week. We usually have to leave church early to be in time for their phonics class at 1pm. If church has become so fun, I am thinking of switching their phonics class so that we don't have to do the mad rush every week. However, that would mean that they may end up in 2 different time slots.

There was no class last week and Daddy Lim sent us to the Port of Lost Wonder (POLW). It has been a while since we went. The crowd has definitely thin and we see more locals now. Previously, the place was packed with ang mos. The kids had a blast of course. They went up and down the slides so many times. I think it was a great workout for me. But I compensated by eating a lot more. Chey.

While Lil Isaac napped, hugging the towel, pretending that it was his soft toy, Lil Shauna tried the bubble party.

As you could tell, she had a blast.

We left POLW at about 5.30pm, had dinner at Vivo and took the MRT home. I think I am getting good entertaining the kids. We had been spending a lot at these places and food at such places don't come cheap. But it is alright, Daddy Lim’s night shift allowance should be good enough to cover the expenses. Lol.

Still No Photo

I have got my Note 3 and sort out the teething issues. I had been starting to take pictures, plenty of them, intending to use them on my blog post. Still... no pictures.

I usually blogged using my mobile phone. It is convenient and I blog on the go, like now, on the mrt. The blogger app works great for me when I was using the iPhone.  In fact, the upgraded version allows me to insert pictures in the middle of the text. It was as good as blogging using the computer and I loved it. I didn't  enjoy having to turn on the pc and more importantly to fight with Daddy Lim for the pc. Moreover, the pics are usually in my phone and I can post directly as compared to the need to download them 1st if I was to use the pc.

The blogger app was one of the few that I downloaded immediately. Yday, I realised that the app works differently on Note 3. I can no longer insert pic in the middle of the text and that sucks. Adding on the pain, I couldn't published the post with pix. Haiz... I have to find a solution soon.  I have gotten used to blogging on my phone. It is so painful to have to go back the old way.

Tooth Fairy is Coming for a Visit

Before we left for Taiwan in late November, I realised that the gap between 2 of her lower front teeth was widening. It was then that we found her 1st wiggling tooth. She was scared and excited at the same time and she was constantly shaking that tooth with her fingers or tongue until she grew bored with it but the tooth was still firmly grounded. Lol.
Days gone by and that tooth becomes more and more shaky but was still there. There was little or no pain  when she wiggles it but I thought it looked really scary when she showed me. I cant remember how I got rid of my milk teeth and couldn't advise much. I read on the Web that we should wait or send her to the dentist if the shaky baby tooth refused to go on. So, we waited.
We saw the adult tooth growing out and not very neatly but the milk tooth didn't want to say goodbye. Whenever we mentioned the dentist, Lil Shauna whines.
This afternoon, Popo called me to say that her milk tooth is out! Apparently, her gum bled a little when she wiggled it. Popo asked her to try to yank it out. She gave it a little tug and voila! I was very excited, asking her over the phone to keep the tooth. Obviously, she doesn't shared my excitement and was hurrying to get off the phone before I manage to tell her that the Tooth Fairy would visit her tonight! But I shouldn't tempt fate to tease her and ask her to wait to catch a glimpse of the Tooth Fairy. Lil Shauna doesn't need much sleep and often complains that sleeping is boring. I would love it if they turn in by 9.30pm.
I am tempted to keep her milk teeth. I am equally grossed out at the thought. Lol. I wonder if she would even treasure those 20 years down the road. I was totally grossed out too when my dentist showed me my gigantic extracted wisdom tooth and asked if I would like to keep them.
So what do Tooth Fairy gives other than $$? How does a toothbrush sound? Lol.

Bad Experience at MacDonalds

It is the first Sunday of the year and the kids will be in their new class. I had wanted to be in church on time and intentionally left home a little earlier for our usual Mac/ BK bfast before church.

We went to the Mac at Jurong Park, just like the week before. It was a little more crowded this week and I headed straight for the q, which had began to snake while Daddy Lim looked for a table with the kids. It didn't take him long to find a table, thus the restaurant probably wasn't that crowded and definitely did not justify the long q.

There were only 2 counters operating and you know how the typical Mac system works. The cashier takes the order and usually pairs up with another staff, who will prepare the order. And when the preparation gets jam up, the cashier will help to prepare the order and clear the waiting q before he takes in more order. Yday morning, it was no different.

However, I spent more than 30 mins in the q! I have never spend so much time in a Mac q! We didn't even spend that much time eating!

I saw many pairs of hands in the kitchen churning out food. The tyipcal yellow boxes for hotcakes, big bfast, etc. were stack up high on the front counter, the hash browns lined their shelf, the auntie who manned the drink machine had cups and cups of ready drinks. However, the q just didn't move, even when it did, it crawled.

Something must be wrong with the counter staff. The cashier serving our q was taking her own sweet time. She's so slow that I think I could do a better job without learning how their system works. Her partner was missing at times and I saw her walk around helping to prepare the order and the q was even more held up. The best part? She looked like she was lost most of the time, walking to collect one order, put on the customer's tray, looked at the receipt and back to collect another item.  She probably walked like 10 times to get one order in.

She finally took my order after like forever. We were getting late for church and I was fuming. I ordered standard items and then stood there for at least 5 mins for my food to be prepared. I saw one counter staff in black uniform (supposed to be higher rank?) constantly looking through the stack of yellow boxes without finding the food that she was looking for. In fact, I had noticed her doing that since I started joining the q. I wonder if she was trying to find gold among the stack. I waited until my orders disappeared from the computer screen and I was still there. My face was charcoal black and I had to ask the cashier where was my food and exclaimed my amazement at how long I had to wait for standard items. With that, my food was in the next moment! That is to say, if I had continued to be a nice customer, I would still be waiting. Arrggghhh.

I must be really pissed, bcos the other customers in line was looking at me. I didn't care. They may have all the time to stand in the q on a lazy Sunday morning but I had came literally for fast food. Bcos of the wait, we were late for church for about 30 mins.

Something must be wrong with the branch in Jurong Park.  Shouldn't they plan for more staff? They should known when does the crowd comes in since this isn't a new branch. And why do they need so many staff preparing food when the counter staff jam up the q? How fresh would the food be?

haiz, let's just avoid that branch for the coming Sundays. Not worth spoiling my Sunday over a lousy Mac bfast.

Happy New Year Again

Happy New Year again!

Daddy Lim feedback that my posts are too wordy when I asked him for his honest opinions. Then, I shot him dagger eyes for his comments. Lol. He said that I should put in more pictures. That should be easy after my Note 3 is fully functional.

We headed to USS yday as Daddy Lim managed to get an off day. It wasn't as crowded as we thought it would be. Still no pictures,  wait ah..

Then Lil Isaac took his nap while Daddy Lim and Lil Shauna went for their Transformer ride. Then, we parked ourselves in a good spot, waiting to catch the parade and Lil Isaac suddenly vomited his lunch, the snacks and the milo, water, yakult that he took, all over himself and the stroller and my leg. Yucks!

We cleaned up as best as we could and had to cut short our trip, much to Lil Shauna’s disappointment. She was OK after we promised that we would come back soon. Lol. We didn't know what caused Lil Isaac to vomit. He was ok over dinner but mummy refused to let him drink milk before bedtime when he pitifully pleaded for it. Luckily, we were in the dark and I couldn't see his puppy eyes.

School starts today! I bet Popo must be doing cartwheel inside her head. We had been reminding the kids, especially Lil Isaac and encouraging him not to cry since he is a big boy now. He sounded excited to go back to school and I hope his enthusiasm lasts. This morning, FB was filled with kids donning their school uniform and starting primary school. Soon, it would be Lil Shauna’s turn, which reminded me that PV starts this week. We have to clock 26 hours in the coming 6 months to fulfill the requirement.

While tucking Lil Shauna to bed last night, it suddenly dawned on me that she will be in K2 today. How fast time flies. Big girl already.

I came home to noisy kids. Lil Isaac said that he didnt cry. Lol. School makes tired lids and they asked to go to bed at 9pm! Woohoo! I thought Popo looks happier too. I saw her watching tv in the night. Lol.

Happy Last Day of Year 2013

Today is a happy day!

It is a half-work day and I left office on time. Popo called earlier to say that she's bringing the kids to IMM. I came home, changed and headed out to IMM to look for them. I was happy bcos I finally got to re-contract and buy my new phone. S4 was out of stock and I ended up with Note 3 instead. I thought Note 3 is a little huge. However, it is actually quite light and I just needed a new phone and I wanted it immediately. Suddenly, it doesn't really matter what phone, I just wanted it NOW!

The kids, especially Lil Shauna had a great time at the IMM playground. We had a late lunch and headed to Happy Willow. Then we had another 2 hours of blast. I was running and playing catching and hide-and-seek with the kids. It was tiring but the smile on the kids' face was worth it. We had a simple pasta dinner before heading home.

This is how the kids looked after a whole day of fun. Tired and messy hair but happy.

Lil Shauna happily posed for me at the MRT station.
Sidetracked, she seems to have slim down a little ever since we came back from Taiwan. She quitted her bottle and had been drinking lesser milk since. This is probably the reason and she can well afford to lose a little. She had a little belly a whole ago. Hehe.

The kids were so tired and turned in fairly early, even Lil Isaac who had a nap in the afternoon. I meddled with the new phone and gave up. I still have no idea how to transfer the data from the current phone to the Note 3. I couldn't even download watsapp and decided to stick to my iPhone for the time being until Daddy Lim helps me with the new phone. I also managed to painfully transfer the pictures from my iPhone to the computer, one by one. With the new phone, I am going to take tons of pictures! Did I tell you that Note 3 is 32gb and I can add on memory? Woohoo!

Daddy Lim is off tomorrow! Yeah!
It is a happy day! Happy New Year!
