Daddy Lim’s Hobbies

Daddy Lin’s hobby doesn’t come in singular or cheap. There is never just 1 bike.

Yes, both blue bicycles are his, when I am the one mainly doing the cycling now. Yes, it is me alone to WWF Saturday morning ride.

He also has several pairs of aggro skates while Zaky only has one.  Then there are the guitars.

If you ask him, he will tell you that they are different.. zzzzzzzz.

He had been hinting that he needed new amp. I duno why when he already has an amp when he bought the guitar. He said that it is “different”. Haiz. As per any of his bigger item purchases, the hints are simply a pre-empt. It usually didn’t take too long before I see the new whatever that he is hinting appear at home. There is no stopping. Haiya.

One day, I came home to his big ass amp. Zzzzz…

It is so much bigger compared to the one that he bought not long ago, that is now hiding under the table.

I asked if the smaller amp should go (sell, throw, donate) but he said to keep it so that he can play together with Zaky.
This is so “3 mins” - Zaky, who doesn’t read chords; he doesn’t even know the basic and is not keen to learn. He only likes to play that few parts of (like 3) songs.

I hope this hobby stays longer to fully depreciate the very big and expensive amp. I have no idea where these will go when we shift.

It is ok. We need entertainment and distractions in life.

Maiden Recovery Ride

During the last medical review, the doctor said that Daddy Lim is not to engage in aggressive exercise for the next 6 weeks but "gentle cycling" is fine. We decided to proceed to test out "gentle cycling".

It had been a while since Daddy Lim exercise. While he was on MC and the kids were in school, he would still do some brisk walking with me before I start my WFH as he would be awoken by the kids. Now that the kids only wake up in time for bfast before their HBL, so did he. Zzzzzzz. It is ok, I like him to be 肥肥胖胖 so that I can look slimmer beside him. Hoho.

To do cycling is a big task bcos we needed to pump the tires and charge the lights after such a long break. We started at about 6.30am and the intent was to go slow, really, really chill so that Daddy Lim doesn't tax his lungs. He only has a pair of them and no exchanges - very precious.

He led most of the way and I was cycling beside him at times. We intended to do a short ride to WCP but cycled on to Lab Park as he was feeling ok. He said that he could actually go further but the growling tummy wouldn't allow him. Afterall, there would be no bfast until we have completed and home after the ride.
The roads were very empty. We would plan to bring the kids the next ride.
We saw a couple of solo cyclists along the way. I was telling Daddy Lim that we should labelled that tell people that we are Husband and Wife and not breaking the CB ruling. Apparently another family beat me to the idea. Hoho.
The chill ride was very enjoyable. It made my last solo ride feel even more lonely. I was struggling on the return trip on my last solo ride but this ride appeared so much shorter when there is companion.

Daddy Lim felt very much ok too. Yay, let's do it with the kids the next time. Zaky obviously needs all the exercise that he can get. Haha.

Gaming

I remembered very clearly that it was an impulse buy. I was suddenly interested in the kinnect and the next moment, we were lugging a new xbox 360 home. It was years ago, when xbox one wasn't even in the market.

The xbox was definitely underutilised. The kids were too young to game. I wasn't that interested to game and even if I was, there were more important things to do when I had the time, like watching my korea dramas. Haha. Don't ask me why I bought the console then. Impulse buying transcends all logics and rationale. Lol.

The xbox sat on the TV rack for a long time collecting dust. We used it occasionally, especially when we had guests, which was super rare. I don't know if it is fortunate or not; as the kids grew older, they showed more interest in the xbox. They started off with kinnect games, jumping in front of the TV and working out. I don't quite mind that, so long as it is not excessive.

Of course they progressed, especially Lil Isaac. Soon, he was asking for new games and games that used the controller. Ok, the latter was introduced by his backside itchy mother who one day decided to reward him for I-can't-remember-what and bought him a new game and a new controller.

Recently, Lil Isaac had a lot more access to the xbox bcos it is the school holiday.  Daddy Lim bought him another new game and another new controller. Now, they game together. Duh.
Even though Daddy Lim said that it is a kiddish game, he went on for a long time with his boy. He said that gaming with Lil Isaac was not too bad. Ya, right. I see them thoroughly enjoying the game. Lol.

New Rollerblades for the Big Boy

Daddy Lim rollerblades really well. I am always secretly admiring him when he glides so effortlessly in parks or when he urban skates. Hehehe. His last pair of Salomon skates lasted him for quite some years and like all shoes, the longer the blades are not worn, the easier they breaks apart. We almost had no opportunity to rollerblade when the kids were younger.

Lil Shauna started learning to rollerblade when she was 4ish. This year, we bought her and Lil Isaac new rollerblades when she had outgrown her old pair. Their new blades are definitely faster than Lil Shauna’s old pair and good enough for the little people. Daddy Lim bought a new pair of same brand too at about the same time. Unfortunately, what he bought was considered so inferior (for adults) that he complained of his feet hurting after a while. The lack of support also made his ankle curved at weird angle while he is in them. They do look really uncomfortable.

So, the complaints went on and on and he didn't seem to enjoy rollerblading with the kids. Otherwise, he cant go in them for too long. Finally, I agreed that I will buy him new rollerblades with my bonus $$ and he started his extensive search, reading reviews and all. Obviously, he isn’t looking for anything near cheap. Lol.

It was quite sad that Salomon skates are no longer on sales in Singapore. His old skates fitted him so well. When Daddy Lim zoomed in to 2 particular brands of rollerblades, we had a hard time trying to find a pair that would fit his gigantic feet. We finally found a pair that he heart at a 3rd rollerblade specialty shop and of course, they are freaking expensive. Tadah!

Daddy Lim loves his new rollerblades and he was so at ease in them. He said that they provided great support and are so comfortable. He went rollerblading at WCP with the kids on Saturday and they all had a great time. It was also when I realized that Lil Isaac had improved tremendously.

He usually wouldn't skate for long bcos he is so slow and often lags far away from the jiejies. Mummy also has to painfully tailgate him by foot bcos he has such a high tendency to fall backwards and we wouldn't want him to bump his head (backside is OK but not head). But last Saturday, he suddenly improved and was doing great. He still fell several times but was definitely catching up with the rest and skating with the rest. I also could stop tailgating him after a while when he didn't seem like he would fall backwards and bump his head. He didn't asked to stop skating like how he usually would bcos he was with the crowd and enjoying himself. Hehe. I think I should get my new rollerblades soon.

Expensive Bicycle, But...

Daddy Lim has been putting his $$ to good use. He is not only on a diet plan but also exercise regularly via biking. He has since lost 3kg! Good job, pappy.

So, Daddy Lim will go cycling a few times aweek after Lil Shauna goes to dreamland. Sometimes, he is on his bike for more than an hour. Well, at least it makes me less heartache that he spent so much on the bike and accessories. Talking about bike accessories, he seems to have endless stuff to buy, from lights to mirror to biking gloves and water bottle & holders to chain cleaner. His latest addition is a ID band with his personal particulars for emergency. Choy, choy, choy.

Actually, he doesnt spent that much on these accessories, but he will have something that he wants to buy every few days and he will make trips to bicycle shops so very often. I really wonder why cant he buy them all at the same times, are they excuses for him to make multiple trips to different bicycle shops and ogle at the expensive bikes? I duno. But the habit doesnt stop.

And I had been dreaming of him strapping Lil Shauna into a child seat onto his bike and he bringing Lil Shauna for a spin. I think the princess will like that.

But he realised that a normal child seat wun fit. He tried bringing his bike to a neighbourhood bicycle shop and found that his guess was correct. -.o" So, expensive bike cannot put child seat. It is not meant to ferry a child around. Win liao.

Haiz, and he has his eye on some road bike recently that cost a lot more than his current bike. Well, that's Daddy Lim. He knows that he shouldnt spend such $$ now. He will have to wait for bonus time and that is provided that he get rid of the current bike. We have no space for 2 bicycles in the house. This I-want-to-buy-a-newer-better-bicycle will go on and on until such a time that he is sick of biking and found a new hobby. Then, it is time to spend $$ on the new hobby. Hohoho. But Bb, I still love you.
