Bcos We Want to Go JB: Day 3

Daddy Lim slept with Nana in the room this time. There was better sound and light proofing. I think we were all tired and slept better. When I woke up for my hitt at 6ish, the rest were still sleeping.

We had to drag Zaky up for bfast this time. The intention was to do bfast, pack up and head home, hopefully avoiding the custom jam.

I remembered seeing another shop opened for bfast and was not disappointed. It was a nicely decorated, high school theme inspired shop.

Nana took pictures with 校长.

The food was nice and we didnt over ordered.

We headed back and we found the gym, but it only opens from 8am.

Our heading home plan was nicely executed. This time, I got Zaky to accompany me to the mailbox, only to realise that it was unlocked. Ok lah, save me time (and eye power).

The drive home was really smooth. The SG custom app said that we were better off at Woodlands. We did that and the whole immigration took less than 1 hour.

Home sweet Home and that marked the end of our short and impromptu holiday. Yay!

Bcos We Want to Go JB: Day 2

Daddy Lim slept with Zaky in the bed in the living room. By late 6ish, it was bright and he woke up. He always complained that I am loud whenever I woke up earlier than he does. I dont see him being any quieter. Soon, I was awaken by the din that he made. Zzzz.

So, we had an early bfast. The shops were mostly closed but we found one nearby selling fusion Malaysia bfast food. These were a small part of whay we ordered and then we were too hungry. Hoho.

After bfast, we decided to do some mall crawl and headed to the Paradigm Mall. Of course Zaky wasn't keen but tagged along bcos that was the prelude to the go karting that he had been bugging for.

What is mall crawl without arcade? Paika also can kick ball.

Then we found this shop that sold interesting snacks.

We also spent some time monkeying at the photo booth.

The screen was obviously too small for the 4 of us. We had more monkeying with the props thereafter. Daddy Lim and Zaky are so cute.
Cuter than us. Lol.

Though we had bfast not too long ago, it didn't stop us from having lunch bcos we were on a holiday.

The kids saw this Halloween maze and were bugging to go. I am quite sure that was for little kids. Lol.

Right after, we did archery. It was a long wait but a good rest for our tired legs.

How did they do?
Daddy Lim, Zaky and Nana.

Finally the sun wasn't working so hard and it was time for some speed. We went to the Angsana Go Kart that was 8 mins drive away. Zaky drove his 1st go kart for MYR40 for 10 mins.

Nana was a little apprehensive and got into a double cart with Daddy Lim. She was the passenger. This cost MYR50 for 10 mins.

I passed totally. I don't even enjoy driving. I suspect I will either hog the road or scream my way through. My life is already very exciting and I don't need this kind of excitement.

Zaky enjoyed the speed but also lang-ga a few times. He wasn't hurt; I think the impact wasn't great when he drove into the tire barricade. Just that each time, he had to wait for the staff to go rescue him. He so much fun that he went for a second round.

We headed back to our Airbnb. Nana had wanted to get her hair perm now that the school holidays are coming. I had never wanted perm hair bcos they made me look older and didn't get her enthusiasm. After much looking around, we found a secluded salon that was willing to take her without appointment. It was a strange salon on the 2nd floor. There was almost no decor, messy equipment and the salon chairs looked like 2nd hand from different salon put together. Truthfully, I was worried.

There was a lot of waiting. The hair stylist eventually came and told us that bcos her hair was messily layered and too short, he would only suggest C waves at the bottom or she would end up looking auntie. Anything lah, she must have her hair permed.

I have not done perm myself and am not sure what are the steps. I now know. 1st, hair washed and dried, then some chemicals were applied to the lower part of her hair (where the perms would be) and sits for 20 mins. These were washed out, then semi-dried and the curlers came on. After that, some electric thing was attached to her curlers.
When fully attached, she looked like she is some alien under experiment in some sci-fi movie. Hoho.

After 20 mins, the machine and curlers were removed. She had auntie maggie mee hair. Lol.
Lastly, her hair had to sit in some toilet seat cover holder for another 10 mins.

Finally, it was washed out and then blow dried. Bcos she would be taking so long, I took the opportunity to color my roots as well. I also waited darn long. For one, the salon was crowded mainly with locals and when I had the chemical washed out, I realised how super slow they were. Maybe a nicer way to put it is "detailed and gentle" but they really took damn long. I think the wash itself took over 10 mins. I got bored lying at the sink. Zzzzz.

Nana was finally done at 8ish. The perm (and a lot of waiting) took over 3 hours. Her perm cost MYR198 while my coloring cost MYR88. In total, this was less than S$100! Where to find in Singapore? No wonder Singaporeans flocked here.

Nana was very pleased with her perm. Heng ah. The hairstylist was very nice and taught us how to blow dry her hair s-l-o-w-l-y. Zzzzz.
Daddy Lim and Zaky were watching Netflix in the Airbnb while we rough it out at the salon with no WiFi. They waited for us for dinner and we found this mookata place. The soup was so flavorful; I think a lot of msg.

While it was cheap in Sgp's context at MYR180, the Korean bbq dinner the night before was even cheaper (and better). We were ok full with the mookata dinner while we burst our tummy at the Korean bbq place for MYR230.

Nice hair, plenty of fun, full tummy. The perfect combi to turn in. Good night!

Bcos We Want to go JB: Day 1

It was an impromptu thought - let's go Austin Height! So we did!

Daddy Lim and I took leave and picked the kids after school. We had lunch and tabaoed lunch for the kids. The intention was to head to JB directly.

Our only rule to the kids? No taking off of shoes in the car. Lol. Many years back, we did a similar trip. Daddy Lim and I almost fainted in the car when the kids decided to go shoeless. It was so bad. Lol.

We chose a good timing and there was barely any Q at both the customs. We booked 2 nights via Airbnb, at Manhatthan, some blocks of apartments right smack in Austin Heights. It had been a while since we visited Austin Heights but GPS was good. We found ourselves at an ice cream joint.

Our airbnb was nearby. The instruction to check in was easy. Go to the mailbox room at Block A, retrieve the key. I was tasked to do the easy assignment.
The only problem was that the mail room lighting was dim and my old flower eyes cannot read the numbers on the number lock. I tried torchlight before using the camera function. I must have took a while that the security came in to check on me.

Then I had to register our carplate number, color and model. I draw blank and decided that the best way is to take a picture. Hoho.

This is where we would spend our 2 nights.

We didn't linger for long and decided to explore the vicinity. 抓娃娃...

This pack of biscuits is very expensive. Hoho.
Only Daddy Lim had some luck. This is his life's 1st ever claw machine prize.
I was happy with the pinball machine.

Our next adventure was the escape room even with a paika.

I think we did lousy. Lol. I was exhausted towards the end of the game and I am not the only one.

At least we worked up an appetite. Korea BBQ dinner! So many 小菜!

More food...

We finished everything and left with a super full tummy. Hoho.

On the way home, the kids happily bought sweets, including these cute duckies, that they said taste so bad. Lol.

Other than the kids benefitted from the snacks, so did Mochi. Big pack somemore! We saw a pet shop with super cute kitten and puppy.

We were tired. It had been a long day. When the night was still young, the lights still blinking and flashing in the shops below, we decided to turn in. Lol. We are tired people.
