Cruise

We just came back from Cruise - Star Virgo with the Ong family. Yes, it is an expensive holiday. We basically pay to do nothing and to swim, eat & sleep. All these activities can be done on a normal day in Singapore too, but we chose to pay over a $1k to do so. Desperation for a holiday can do great harm. And oh, to get away from work too. Hehe.

Actually, I quite like cruises. Bcos there is no agenda, no places that we must visit, no things that we must do, it becomes really relaxed. And these are so important when we are bringing the baby. I think Star Virgo should give some kind of special privileges to Lil Shauna. Including the 1st trip that she went while still in my tummy, this is her 4th cruise trip on Star Virgo. Hohoho. My mum came along too and as usual, immersed into the Casino. ;p Other than the usual nagging, she is a great help to us at times. Hehe. Digressing, I wonder why all older women nag. The least important things suddenly become so important and she can say the same thing over and over again even when you have told her that you have heard her. The priorities are all mixed up. I was asking Mummy P if I will grow to be like my mum when I am older. I think so. I hope I dun nag Lil Shauna too much. Hoho.

Look at the father and daughter relaxing on the lazy chair. Envy?
We didnt take many pix this time, other than that of Daddy Lim's accident.

Lil Shauna bit him on the tummy. She bit him so hard that he bled. She only have 8 milk teeth, but they are powerful ones. Dun play, play.
Then, he stupidly ramped the door into his toe.
Finally, he risked having his slippers thrown away by the princess.

He was the only one who got hurt, 2x somemore. Lil Shauna didnt get hurt, even when she sits on the ferocious lion. Hohoho.
We suspect that Lil Shauna loves the sea. Maybe she can be a Captain next time!
We stupidly forgotten about family and group photos. These are basically all that we have.

Overall, the trip was good. Haiz, somehow, I think I will come back for the cruise again. Hmm.. is that good or bad news?
Oh, while on the cruise, we saw a group of really old ladies. I was telling Mummy P that I can see ourselves in them. 30 years down the road, we will all come to cruise, some with walking stick and looking out for each other. Muumy P was pleased with the idea too, just that she had something against the old aunties' permed hair. She insisted that she wun perm her hair when she grows old. OK, we'll wait & see. ;p

We are Back!

The cruise is great. Much, much better than when Lil Shauna was 6 months' old and definitely better than what I expected.

We picked up the luggage from home after rushing off work on Friday and picked up my mum and Lil Shauna. The traffic to Haborfront was bad. We had to pity those people who worked in the West but stay in the East and had to use the AYE-ECP to go home. Lil Shauna was the least affected by the traffic. She was happily "bouncing" around in the car and munching on biscuits.
Since we arrived an hour after boarding time, the crowd had pretty much cleared and there was little waiting. We board the cruise and check-in to our cabin.

Lil Shauna was excited and was happy to cruise around the cabin. Then we headed off for dinner before more exploring and finally tucking the tired baby to bed. I had to squeeze with the baby on the tiny single bed but she was too tired on both nights and slept thru both nights with little movements. Haha. My mum left for the casino right before Lil Shauna falls asleep. She was so excited. I joined her for a little while after Lil Shauna went to dreamland and was so surprised to find that the stakes were really high. The minimum bet for the lowest stake game was $10! The casino was filled with many uncles and aunties and they gambled as if they were millionaires. I see many of them fishing out stacks of $50 notes and exchanging them into chips. I cant help wondering where did they find all these $$ to gamble. They played really big. They can wipe out a few hundreds in one game and they seems to be exchanging cash for chips non-stop. Phew! What are these people thinking about?

After making sure that my mum is ok, I left and went to bed.

Lil Shauna woke up early the next morning. She doesnt spare us even during holidays - no sleeping in for us. Sob. As expected, my mum was busy with the casino and didnt sleep a wink the entire night. She has no watch with her and was so lost in time. Haha. She enjoy her games at the casino but is definitely not like those hardcore gamblers at the casino. She is contented sitting at the 2 cents jackpot machine the whole night.

After breakfast, it was swimming time and Lil Shauna was so looking forward to it. The restaurant's outdoor seating area oversees the swimming pool and Lil Shauna was really excited when she saw the pool.
We literally had to pull her away from the metal railing. She's a baby with her own mind now.
She had a great time at the pool. She spent most of her time sitting in the shallow pool with no splashing water or decoration, just ankle deep water but she really enjoying herself. -.o
I particularly like the photo that I took with Lil Shauna bcos I looked skinnier. Hohoho. Just in case you didnt realise, Lil Shauna is wearing her new swim suit, bday prezzie from Mummy H. She grew out of her "guo deng kueh" one.We brought Lil Shauna back to the pool in the afternoon too. We were worried that she will get too much sun or catch a cold but she appeared fine. The "swims" tired her out and gave us opportunity to nap too. Hehe.
The rest of the time was spent exploring the cruise. Lil Shauna was keen to put her new found ability - walking, to good use. She spent a large part of her time walking. It helps very much that some of the flooring were carpeted. We felt safer to let her walk on the carpeted flooring. I guessed it will be less painful if she falls?

We ended up with really stinky shoes and feet. Are babies supposed to wear socks?
We basically just spent our time eating, sleeping, resting, exploring, swimming and most importantly bonding. We took lots of nice pix too.

During this trip, Lil Shauna had lots of "adult" food from bread to baked potatoe to ice ckae and cakes and what have you. She must be a happie baby.

On the 2nd night, Daddy Lim and I managed to sneak out too after leaving the sleeping baby with my mum. Daddy Lim saw in the program that they had a "rock & roll" night and a live band playing and was eager to watch. To our surprise, the "rock & roll" night was made up of some stupid dancing games played mainly by Indians. We had a good time laughing at them though. They were really funny. The band wasnt fantastic too and we left shortly. Sleep is more important.

We all enjoyed ourselves. My mum too. I am glad that she came with us. Although she spent most of her time in the casino, she managed to join us for most of the meals. That is also bcos the cruise is to nowhere (open sea) and the casino is opened all the while and she finds no hurry to return to the casino. I think it is time & $$ well-spent. I think we are coming back again. But I think things will be even much better when Lil Shauna is a little older and she can truly enjoys herself.

Time to start planning for the next holiday. Woohoo!

Back from Cruise...

We are back! Daddy Lim & I survived our first trip with Lil Shauna. It was a pretty nice trip less a few unpleasant incidents.
We went with 2 big bags. However, I realised that I brought too much clothes, bibs, hankies, diapers for Lil Shauna. Can do with less and save some weight. But I think I will bring just as much when we go for our next trip, cos the threat of "wat-ifs" bugs me big time. I bet most mummies are as kia-su as me.

We only embarked the cruise at 9+pm and proceeded for dinner. Lil Shauna was too excited with the mobs of people that she saw everywhere and refused to sleep. She only went to dreamland at 11pm, way past her bedtime. We were worried that her little nose will act up in the air con room but apparently not. She slept rather peacefully for both nights. Maybe it was bcos the air con was at set at room temperature. Daddy Lim joked that should her little nose acts up, we shall camp at the main deck. -.o"
Lil Shauna had her 1st swim at the public pool. To prepare for her swim, we even bought her a new swimsuit. Sexy one somemore, hehe.

I know she looks like "gao deng kuey", but she looks so cute.. She was happy when we put on her swimsuit. Moreover, this is the only time that she dun mind looking fat in horizontal stripes and I am so going to abuse my authority as a Mummy. Haha.
Apparently, she doesnt like swimming. She still prefers to kick water in her bathtub while bathing. Not too sure if it is bcos the water is too cold or there are too many kids. Anyway, the "unkeen-ness" is written all over her face.

After her swim, we dressed her in a new "Old Navy" top that I bought for her online. Branded ok.. She looks totally like a boy in that hooded romper. But bcos she is so cute in it, I actually dun mind.

I tot she looks like "Jay Chow", hehe. Bcos we were too bored, we ended up making her look silly and snapped photos.

Daddy Lim & I managed to get an hour of "we" time. We went for ice-cream and fun at the arcade. Yummy, finger licking good. :)

Before long, it was time to go home. We managed to get some family pix, but Lil Shauna wasnt too cooperative.
More trips? Hmm.. I duno..

Pack for Cruise

Woo hoo! We are gg to the cruise and we are bringing Lil Shauna along! This is our 1st ever family trip if we do not take the Koh Samui one where she was made and the cruise when she was in my tummy into consideration. I doubt Lil Shauna will remember a thing about the trip but who cares. I am dying to travel and the cruise is our safest bet. We didnt want to take a plane fearing that we will have a wailing baby thru'out the flight. Confine space leh.. we are considerate people and try our every best not to deafen the others. Even if we survive the flight, I doubt Lil Shauna will enjoy or allow us to enjoy shopping or sightseeing. Thus, we are gg to the cruise!

We will be travelling with my mum, my brother's family & my sis. It has been a long while since we last travelled together. The last was oso to Star Virgo & that was my Dad's last trip. With the maid & my mum, we do hope to sneak a few "we" moments. We are bringing Lil Shauna swimming too. Swimming in a public pool, no more float around the neck! Lil Shauna is a big girl already. Hehe.

We were listing down the "to-bring" list. We have nothing much to bring, for it is afterall a short 2 nights 2 day trip. However, while doing Lil Shauna's list, the items seem never-ending. I always look with surprise when I see my SIL lugs big bags for trips. Now then I noe how much stuff we have to bring when there's a kiddo in tow. There are so many rompers, hankies, bibs to bring. There there are the diapers (the killer), the milk bottle, the water bottle, the milk powder, the bowl, the spoon, the cereal, the oil, the nappy rash cream... I was busy gathering the items and throwing them into the luggage bag just now. Even before I am done with Lil Shauna's items, the bag is already filled to the brim and the diapers are not even in yet... -.o" Make a guess, how many bags do we need? No prize though, hohoho.
