Weekend in Desaru

We went to Desaru last weekend. It was a simple weekend gateaway bcos hardcore Mummy Lim is dying to travel and is constantly thinking of where to go. ;p I had wanted to go Genting, but my mum & bro's family were not keen. I tot that it would be pretty boring if Lil Shauna has to take all those rides on her own and explored Desaru since we have never been there. Desaru is near too, only 25 mins by ferry.

But things didnt go quite right at 1st. We worked in the morning and rushed off to source for the maid in the afternoon. It took more time than expected and then we rushed home to put in a few items into the half packed bag, took a cab to pick up my mum and Lil Shauna. Nope, my mum didnt come along. She was going to Tanah Merah Terminal and we were supposed to drop her along the way.

We got an unfriendly taxi uncle. He was grumpy about having to pick up my mum and Lil Shauna and to drop us at 2 destinations. Then, he drove sooooooo slowly and we met with a traffic jam. He was so grouchy when I requested for him to drive faster. He even rebuked me saying that there were so many cars, how to drive faster? -.o" After like forever, he dropped us at Changi Point Ferry terminal when we are supposed to take the ferry at Changi Ferry terminal. The taxi uncle insisted that it was the right place and we alighted. He continued to send my mum to her destination.

Then we realised that we were at the wrong place. -.o" It was already 4.15pm and we were supposed to check in at 4pm. We walked to the main road and Daddy Lim was calling for a cab when I managed to flag one. Daddy Lim was actually successful in securing a cab but we still boarded the flagged-down cab and luckily the uncle knows the way. While we were in the cab, the called-cab uncle called and scolded Daddy Lim for not cancelling the call. Poor Daddy Lim.

Heng, we reached the right ferry terminal at 4.30pm and were still allowed to check-in. Phew.. cold sweat lor. The ferry was pretty cool. Open concept on the upper deck and aircon on the lower deck. Apparently, not many people go to Desaru. The ferry was not even half occupied.

Upon reaching Desaru, things started flowing smoothly. We have a great BBQ buffet dinner at the hotel restaurant. The satays were just yummy. And then we had an early night. Tired leh, after so many obstacles to get to Desaru.

As usual, Lil Shauna woke up us bright and early the next day. Haiz, she never give chance. Not even on holidays. Breakfast was Ok and we proceeded to soak in the swimming pool for a good hour. Lil Shauna just loves swimming. If we dun stop her, I think she can stay in the pool the entire day.

We had brought along Lil Shauna's gear for some sand digging at the beach but she got frightened at the big waves and refused to come down. We ended up playing wave chasing instead. Super tiring and thus we decided to forgo the beach.
After swimming was more soaking in the hotel room's bathtub. By the end of the holiday, Lil Shauna simply turned into a very tanned prune. Hohoho. There are indoor and outdoor playground, which helps to entertain Lil Shauna for a long while. Then we had a good afternoon nap. Sounds like good life, right? Hohoho.

We signed up for a fruit farm tour in the late afternoon. We had hoped to do fruits picking like what we did in Australia and were disappointed to be on a guided tour. No fruits picking at all. Lil Shauna doesnt appreciate the tour. It was hot and she ended up picking stones, throwing them into the dustbin + playing with the sand. -______-" She got herself all sticky and dirty.

The only thing that she enjoys in the fruit farm was the fish pond + mini animal farm. There were so many fishes in the pond and they were all so hungry.

I had initially wanted to go for the firefly tour after returning from the fruit farm. But seeing how little the princess enjoys herself, we forgo the firefly tour. Moreover, we were all sticky and hot and the swimming pool looks too appealing to resist. So it was swimming again before a good dinner and a good night rest.

On Monday morning, we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. There were probably just a handful of hotel guests. And we almost had the swimming pool to ourselves too. We managed to take another nap before a late lunch and finally made our way back to the ferry terminal for Singapore.

It was a relaxing holiday, but nothing compared to our Koh Samui holiday where Lil Shauna was made. Hehe. But, it was a good break from work, from everything. I duno if we will go back, but maybe we would when the maid is here. I can imagine how great it will be for Daddy Lim & me to relax on the beach chair, sipping ice cold coke while the maid chases after the princess. Hohoho.
