Lil Shauna's classmate invited her to a bday party. It wasnt really a party but the bday girl - C, invited 3 other classmates to a day's of fun.
The parents picked the girls up before picking Lil Shauna from JCube after her ice skating class. They were heading to Wild, Wild, Wet unless for wet weather.
Everything that the girl needed was in her little bag. We gave her some allowances and allowed her to carry her mobile phone, just in case of emergency. She had been looking forward to the occasion.
Before the car left, I had to wish the parents plenty of good luck in surviving the day. Hehe. The mummy was really nice and set up a chat group to update the other mummies of the day's activities.
They arrived at WWW safe and sound. It was raining in the West but bright and nice at Downtown East.
Zaky wasnt invited and he was given a choice to go WWW on our own or to do something special with us. He took a long time to decide. We headed East anyway bcos we needed to send the car to the workshop to fix up the hitch that has finally arrived. The hitch will allow us to fix up the bike rack and then to transport the bikes on the car in the future.
At the car workshop, Zaky finally decided that he didnt want to go WWW. We caught a movie at Parkway Parade Mall instead. I used to frequent PPM when I was a kid but it has now changed so much. There wasnt even a single hint of resemblance. While we were relaxing at the cinema over soft drink and nachos, Lil Shauna was happily baking in the sun.
We collected the car after the movie and Zaky asked to go to the trampoline park.
Worrying that the boy would be bored, I actually paid to enter the trampoline. My worries were unfounded and I totally wasted my money. To begin with, he was happy bouncing around on his own. Then, my body was still trying to recover from the business trip (with daily treadmill) and the company's captain ball event on Friday evening. By then, I was aching all over and nursing this heaviness in my head. I was freaking exhausted. I spent most of the time walking around the trampoline park or resting outside. Hahaha.
The girls even went for dinner together.
After dinner, they still proceeded to the arcade. Apparently, fun is never enough and they could go on forever.
We tried to make it up to Zaky and brought him for his favourite Swensen and I soon regretted my choice. Even at 8.30pm, we had to wait for a table and the restuarant wasnt even crowded. While in the Q (for like forever), I tried to persuade Zaky to change a restuarant without success. It was impossible trying to convinve a tired kid. Even after getting a table, we had to wait for the food to be served. That is why I hated Swensen - long wait and expensive food that doesnt taste fantastic. Bleh.
The boy was exhausted after a long day and was in bed on his own soon after we were home. Lil Shauna had a super long day. It was almost 11pm by the time she was back. She was equally tired but totally enjoyed herself. I had to applaud C's parents for surviving the looonnnng day with so many children.
We shouldnt do this so often. While Lil Shauna was away, we indulged in so many money spending activities to make sure that Zaky is not shortchanged. Haha. On the other hand, Lil Shauna was totally pleased with the outing. I think it is the start to many independent outings. Sob, my baby has grown up!

Ice Skating 113
Our ice skating classes and practices had been so sporadic in the last few months. It was either that the rink was closed for events or we had some activities. There were times that we were away from ice for like 2 weeks! Then again, Coach Raymond had told us that there wouldnt be any upcoming competition for Lil Shauna. We had indicated our interest for skating competition in Bangkok and KL. However, everybody else is heading to Skate Japan in June. I didnt want to go Skate Japan bcos it is in June. Hahaha. If we are to go Japan, of course the weather must be cold and nice. As such, there wouldnt be any overseas competition for the time being. Coach Raymond said that we could try for the inter school competition in July instead. We did that last year.
The lessons should become more regular starting in April. Next week, the rink will again be closed on the weekend's mornings for short track competition. Zzzz...
Lil Shauna was finally back on lesson yday after stopping for a week for that not too impressive prize award ceremony. We decided to start with some stretching warm up and jumps before hitting the ice. Yes, she never stretches and usually just hit straight. Hohoho. She said that the warm up helps and we should keep up with them in the future.
Dispite the sporadic practices, she still kept her flip jumps and almost completed sit spins. I had guessed that she would be spinning in class and I was absolutely right. It was first the change direction spins; which reminded me that she has to work on her back spin. She usually doesnt do well for her change direction spins bcos they leave her super dizzy. Then Coach Raymond worked on her sit spins. By then, her weak legs can no longer keep her up. Oopsy daisy.
Nevertheless, she is improving; slowly but surely. Lastly, Coach Raymond worked on her camel spin. I see no camel leh.
She was so glad to end class bcos the spins were toxic to her little head. I even caught her peeping at the clock, willing time to pass faster. Lol. Fighting!

Thailand and Back
It had been months since I last travelled for work and I was enjoying the break. Though I have wanderdust but traveling for work doesnt fall in that category. Lol. Give me holiday any time.
The kids were upset but they knew that I had to go. Then again, like all previous business trips, once I am gone, they were be very much alright. They didnt even bother to whatsapp me. Chey.
My flight was early Tuesday morning. I was up at 5am and suffered a bad night bcos I was chomping on k drama till late, then had difficulty falling asleep as I struggled with the anxiety of oversleeping. Truely a case of itchy backside.
I flew by TG. The only complaint that I have was their lousy inflight system. It was a touch screen that doesnt really react to touch. In fact, even the controller wasnt able to properly function. While there was a whole list of movies to select, the touch screen/ controller only allowed me to watch Justice League or a particular Thai movie. Lol.
Hello Thailand!
I was travelling with a colleague and we headed straight to the office from the airport for a long day of meeting. While it was the paradise of shopping, we were both too tired and turned in to rest after an easy dinner. I love business trips where the host colleagues dont over entertainment and leave me on my own. I am a hermit crab.
I was "healthy" and headed to the gym on both mornings. On the 1st morning, I realised that I didnt bring along a hairclip and improvised with a this clip.
Only after treadmill and bfast, I came back to the room and realised that I do have clip and rubber band hidden in my bag.
At least I used the "right tool" on the 2nd morning. The gym was spacious and wasnt too crowded. However, the treadmills were all right facing the wall and I almost died of boredom.
We headed to Terminal 21 mall for dinner on the 2nd evening. My colleague was after the cheap seaweed. I was happy to just take picture with the icon.
We went to the office on Wednesday morning and I had a tight schedule, only to rush off to the airport after lunch. Phew.
The trip home was easy, especially when we had a newer plane and the touch screen really did work. Hohoho.
After a pack 3 days business trip, I am back in the office rushing for another deadline. I am so sleepy....... makeup does wonder. Hehe.

Academic Awards
I often see parents posting on fb of their kids receiving awards on stage. I drool. I also want.
I always thought that Lil Shauna is strong academically and found it strange that she wasnt qualified for any awards so far. This is especially so when she did exceptionally well in P2. If Lil Shauna's results are still deemed not good enough, I have even lesser hope about the boy.
Ok, to be fair, she did recieve the Edusave Good Progress award for her P2 results. I was so hoping that they would invite us to some award ceremony so that I could take some pictures of her onstage and sooth my mummy's ego. Bo leh! I remembered eventually receiving the certificate and some cheque via snail mail. Chey. I want to take photo.
About a month back, we recieved a letter to inform that Zaky is given the Edusave Merit award for his good results in P1. My eyes almost dropped out. Though I knew that he did better (than jiejie) when I compared their report book side by side, it was a fact that didnt quite sink in. Haha.
Some days later, Lil Shauna had the same letter for doing well in P3. She was overjoyed and shared that she was actually secretly disappointed when she thought she didnt recieve the award (and didi did). It is probably sibling rivalry thing. She masked it so well that we couldnt tell.
I was so excited. It is my big fat chance to see the kids on stage and to snap some pictures! Of course we had to attend the ceremony. Shake hand and take picture with Cedric Foo leh.
We opted to attend the ceremony and pushed away ice skating class to do so. The ceremony took place last Saturday, right at the cc across the road.
There was a huge crowd in the hall when we arrived and it was free seating. Cedric Foo finally arrived after some waiting and gave a speech on budget; why GST has to be increased.. taking every chance apparently. I was wondering how the award presentation would take place if everybody is seated so haphazardly. Then we were dismissed after the speech and were supposed to go collect the certificate at the different "booths".
After collecting the certificate and $80 Popular gift vouchers, we can then join this super long q (literally circling the entire hall) to take picture and shake hand with Cedric Foo. Faint. Daddy Lim and the kids objected violently to the idea.
What we did was to try to "include" Cedric Foo in our picture. Can you see him? Haha.
We ended up taking more picture with C, Lil Shauna's classmate, whom was also receiving the award.
The Q wasnt any shorter when we left the hall for a hearty lunch. The kids didnt feel any more special after the award and not mind not shaking Mr Foo's hand at all. Lol.
I think we can skip the award ceremony if there is the next one. Haha. Meanwhile, the kids can go to Popular to spend their vouchers.

Disney on Ice - 6 Years Later
Six years ago, Daddy Lim brought Lil Shauna to Disney on Ice while I stayed home with the very little boy then. I still remembered how they came home with this Buzzlight Year filmsy hat and a huge and expensive Princess balloon. Lol. http://shauna-our-baby.blogspot.sg/2012/05/disney-on-ice.html?m=1
Six years later, we have decided to do Disney on Ice again. Now that Lil Shauna is in ice skating, I was hoping that the performance would motivate her. Instead of leaving me and Zaky at home this time, we left Daddy Lim behind. Hahaha. He was nice to ferry us to and back from Kallang Indoor Stadium despite us forsaking him. I took the MRT after work and met them at Kallang.
There wasnt much of a Q into the stadium.
Upon entering, we went staright up to Q up for snacks. Lol. I was greedy bcos my dinner was tabaoed fried rice that I chomped down unsatisfactorily as we walked from the car park to the stadium.
We bought mid tier tickets and had a good view of the rink. I was surprised to see the rink was this small but trusted that the skaters would be able to do their magic nevertheless.
Selfie time before the show starts. Yes, the snacking started too. Lol.
The show started at 7pm. Zootopia!
We were told to turn on our torchlight. It felt like some superstar concert. 我们对你爱不完!!! Lol.
Then the show started. Mickey! Nemo! Many, many princesses and princes!
The highlight of the show must be Frozen. Even I enjoyed it and we were singing along to the tune.
Elsa's costume was very "Elsa". Lol. Very nice.
There was a break at 8pm.
We took a walk and I thought of buying some cotton candy (comes with Olaf filmsy hat, lol) or popcorn only to realise that it was daylight robbery. Still, the parents crowded the station with their young kids and were whipping out stack of cash to pay for the mechandises. Looking at the price, I immediately changed my mind. My kids are way too old for such stuff anyway. Lil Shauna was fine to walk away; Zaky needed some persuasion.
More performances took place after the break. Zaky was getting restless and was fidgeting in his seat. I was getting bored too. Only Lil Shauna was still watching attentively. Finally, the finale at 9pm.
We found Daddy Lim waiting patiently for us. So nicccceeee....
Overall, it was a nice show. Our kids are probably overaged as compared to the many little ones, who donned costume to watch their favorite Disney characters. Will we catch the next one? Probably not. Haha.
