HBD Zaky!

My kids are born at the wrong time of the year. Nana would be mugging for the mid year exams during her bday and Zaky would kena the final year exams. Suay sia.

This year is finally different. PSLE is over! For once, since formal school started, Zaky has no exams on his bday. Hooray! It looks like this would be the case until O levels. 赚到

We had an early celebration with my brother's family bcos on his actual day, Popo is going on another cruise. Ya, Popo is celebrating his bday with a cruise holiday but without him. Hohoho.

Old pictures kept popping up on my memories, of his previous bday parties/ celebrations.

Awwww... where did that cute boy go? He is obviously nothing like this tiny cute thing anymore and is almost catching up with jiejie.

Before the picture was taken, Nana kept pressing down his hair and telling me that his puffy hair is giving him unfair advantage. Lol. For the record, I am still taller than Nana. Hohoho.

He seems to have shot up suddenly. We needed that, we needed the height to stretch the fats. Hohoho. He is outgrowing his shoes too. I am asking him to tahan a little bit more for his school shoes; I really don't want to buy new shoes for the remaining 1 month. He is also outgrowing his running shoes. These are like so infrequently worn. Soon, I will inherit them, I am not outwearing the shoes faster than the kids passing them down to me.

We at least got him a birthday cake on his actual day.

It was such a big cake bcos it was on promotion and the cake shop auntie talked me into buying it. 3/4 of it went into the fridge.

Happy Bday Zaky! You are officially a teenager and the exciting secondary school life awaits you. May you grow taller soon. Hoho. We love you to the moon and back.

Happy 10th Bday Zaky!

Zaky's bday usually falls on SA2. This year it falls right smack during PSLE marking week. I still remembered those short trips that we would steal during the PSLE week and using them in exchange for a bday party. This year, we are so stuck. Zaky then laments that we NEVER ever do anything for his bday. Who is the one with the goldfish memory?

In a short span of a few days, I pulled together a mini celebration for him with a couple of friends to the Nerf Experience. He was thrilled.

We were told that Nerf Experience is now operating at 25% capacity due to Covid-19. Entry is on a 1st come 1st served basis. We were advised to arrive by 11.30am to Q for entry at 12pm. So I ended taking a full day's leave and started the day with a walk around the neighbourhood.

The walk didn't last very long bcos Daddy Lim had to rush home for his morning meeting and we have to feed the tummies before that. Such a busy morning.

We met the rest at 11.30am and a Q was already started to form. I felt the same stress  like I was trying to fight for a slot at the ice skating rink. T.T

When play is in the picture, there is no need for food. Luckily Auntie H had the foresight to buy bread for the kids to bring into the center to tahan until they were done. The Nerf Experience was 3-hour long.

Time flies and 3 hours flashed by. I was eager to hear the kids' experience. They said that it was "fun at 1st" but not so after the novelty wore off.

The bread was a life saver and it was finally time for proper food.
The others had to leave after the "lunch". We headed off to the arcade, the last bit of fun to end the day.

Zaky asked for a bday cake and he got his cake.

Happy 10th bday to the not-so-little boy!

Happy 8th Birthday Zaky

Eight years ago, a little bundle of joy came into the world and disrupted our lives.
The little bundle is now not at all little (though he thinks he is) but just as or more disruptive.
He is still a joy nevertheless and we love him all the same.

He is always looking forward to his birthday and always lamenting that he has to wait so long while jiejie's bday comes earlier. Errr.. each one is 12 months away.

Finally, it was his big day. We have no fancy bday parties but tiny bday celebrations for the little boy. He asked to go to the skate park and of course got his wish.
This time, with a little encouragement, he even attempted a steep slope that he said was super scary. He also tried jumping off steps. Bit by bit, he will one day get the crazy stunts. Yes, I must be crazy to encourage him.

While Zaky was zooming around in the skate park, Lil Shauna was contented playing with sand at the beach.

Zaky eventually joined her.
Until we pulled the kids off bcos our tummies are rumbling.

We arent a family of foodies but the kids do have some favorites and one of them being Mache. Yes, they do have expensive taste.
It was pleasing to see that Lil Shauna was being extra nice to Zaky and it was rare to see them so loving. Haha.

Zaky's actual birthday day started a little rough. Daddy Lim said that he had wanted to bring us for trail and on a route that he had never explored before but based on Google map, the route looked fairly flat. Lil Shauna was deceived and agreed to join when she was never a fan of trail or even cycling. I of course had to tag along.

It was a massive exercise having to pump the tires, load the 30kg bicycle rack and bicycles onto the car. Fortunately Daddy Lim did most of the work. We woke up on early Sunday morning to head to Dairy Farm.

Flat trail my foot!!!! It was super difficult. The kids and I had difficulty both going downhill and up. It was damn scary. Even Daddy Lim admitted that it was too tough for the kids.. what kids.. even me too. Sob. We spent most of the time pushing the bike instead of riding bcos it was either too difficult or scary. Lol. Along the way, it was a buffet feast for the mosquitoes. Daddy Lim said that we wouldnt be bitten if we didnt stay stationary for too long. Ya, right...

The exploration didnt take too long bcos we came to realise that the trail was really too difficult for the kids and me. 勉强是没有幸福的. We rode on the pavement back to the car and the route was super short; we didnt even ride far. Haha.

The massive efforts to prep for the trail was definitely not worth for the little that we rode but at least we had a great bfast. Haha.
We had agreed to go to church but the plan was called off bcos of a tantrum from jiejie and she was grounded for the afternoon.

Ended up, Zaky roamed JP with Mummy and decorated his own cake.

Then to Takashimaya to select his bday presents. He had asked and missed jiejie a few times but was happy to recieve all the attention from us. He was talkative and chatting constantly.
The father and son back view looked so similar. I couldnt help but take a shot.

Fortunately, Lil Shauna reflected and cooled down in the afternoon and agreed to partake in the candle blowing.
And a fantastic dinner at Swensen - Zaky favorite eating place. He had a complimentary ice cream too.

Attack!
With that, his little celebrations came to an end and 12 more months to the next one.

Happy bday little boy. We love you to the moon and back.

Birthday Cake Afterall

Zaky got ice cream and a slice of cake for his bday. He had wanted an ice cream cake bcos he had such a soft spot for ice cream.

On Monday, upon our return from JB, I offered to buy him an ice cream cake. He rejected my offer  bcos he had his eyes on decorating his own cake at the Icing Room. The cease their cake decoration sales for a while and it is back.

We got the petite cake bcos the cake has a lot of butter cream and the last time we had the same cake, it wasn't delicious.

Of course the kids had a ton of fun. They are so much better at it than the last time.
There was quite some icing left and they started eating the Icing. Lol.

The final product.

Happy bday Zaky!

Happy 6th Bday Zaky!

There was no big bang for the little tiger this year - no bday party, no goodie bags and no celebration in school. In exchange, we had a family-only little huddle in Batam, where he blew a candle on a slice of oreo cake.

Was he upset? Very much not and he so enjoyed the Batam holiday, the constant dwelling in the arcade. It was almost like we lived in the arcade and not the hotel. Lol.

We bought him a real ice cream bday cake on Thursday bcos he had a full day of classes on his actual bday the next day.

He was again happy with the little celebration and he made a wish real hard.

Bcos there was no party, he didn't get many presents like he used to but he didn't complain, contended with the little celebration that we gave him.

On Friday, he turned 6 but was busy with school's full dress rehearsal in the morning, Chinese enrichment in the afternoon and TKD sparring in the evening. He did get a small bday present from his TKD master and was happy with the little badge, chocolate and lollipops. It made me realised that big party or not, the kids didn't really mind.

We did buy him his bday present after class on Friday night. Nope, we didn't get him a hover board or segway; they are way too expensive and the Centris poolside isn't the most conducive place to use them. He got this instead.
He was of course very pleased with it and kept asking to play with it. He agreed though that mummy will have to set a time limit.

Happy bday Zaky. May you grow strong and healthy. Love you loads.
